This was a disappointment. Of course, I'm always excited to see new eateries turn up in the area (there are so few good ones). The experience was not good, though, and I don't see myself going back, at least until summer. There is some great seating outside.
The good: the hall is huge and has a feel somewhere between a cafeteria and a nicer food court. The food court thing seems to be what they're going for. The layout of tables lends itself to large groups going for a beer or cocktail. When its full, though, its very loud and hard to hear. There's a couple of food options, but way less than you might think. There are several huge screen tvs to take in a game and there's a play area for little ones. That's very cool. And overall, it looks pretty nice.
The bad: we started with a few drink just to take in the ambiance and get a feel for the place before we ordered food. The drinks were terribly over priced. There are 3 or 4 kitchens, so to speak, from which you order food from one of three kiosks. The kiosk experience wears old before you even start. All of them had big lines of people waiting to order. There are two hot kitchens: one cuban style food, the other american style steaks. Both have limited options, and, yes, both are very expensive. We visited at peak dinner hours and the steak section was shut down. So, not eating pork (which constitutes three of the four options in the cuban section) we were left with a chicken sandwhich. I eat a lot of chicken, so was not looking forward to that. When i asked the front hostess why the steak area was shut down she only said they had to give them a break to catch up. During peak hours? So, no hot food. One more thing. The folks at our table who did order waited forever to get it while we went through our beverages (they never actually got it while we were there - 40-50 minutes?). The tables don't seem to get cleaned, so, you'll probably have to do that yourself. Also, while they deliver food, there is no table service.
So we went to...
Read moreCame in tonight because I placed an order to get my family food,, it took 45 minutes for 2 burgers (that where soggy with pickle juice when we finally got them) when I came in to grab them I knew we were going to need drinks so when I went to their drink station tell me WHY there where a hoard of dead flies around the drink area. It honestly almost made me lose my appetite. Then when we came up to get my order I realized they hadn’t bagged my food properly. It was in a normal container for someone eating in the restraint when I ordered out. So I politely asked them to bag it properly bc it was order out not order in and he says “oh ur right it does say that let me fix it” and the female who came up to bag everything did it WITHOUT GLOVES!!!! How is that sanitary or appropriate!?! came home to eat my burger and the bun on the burger was literally falling apart because of the pickle juice. Mind you we didn’t get any sauces or anything on the burger so it was soaked strictly with pickle juice when we arrived early to pick up the order bc it was 45 minutes of wait time for said order.
It’s highly disappointing having this experience because of the fact ik this is a very popular area in town. But I honestly think if the health department had had my experience today they would be closed because it was DISGUSTING.
After asking my family how their food was it was also soggy and they couldn’t finish their meal. Which is disappointing because of the money and time that was wasted tonight.. I was going to come here for my birthday but I’d be better off at home with a...
Read moreThe Lumberyard atmosphere is great. I have eaten here three times so far. Each time the sides have been much better than the main course. The main courses are typically lacking. My first time at the Lumberyard I tried the pernil and Pollo bowl. The flavor of the meat was very good but overly salted. The rice and beans were good but mildly bland. The whole dish lacked balance and freshness. Both dishes could have benefited a lot from some brightly pickled onions and some fresh cilantro. The sweet potato fries though were very delicious. The second time I had a burger. The burgers at Humble Burger in Moscow are infinitely better. One problem with the burger at Lumberyard is that the beef patty does not have a clear and distinct beef flavor, and the flavor is very mild. In addition, the buns were not adequately toasted on the inside. As a result the burger bun became very soggy as I ate my burger, and fell apart. However, the potato chips were spot on: great flavor, great texture, and perfectly seasoned. The third time I had the fried chicken which was very under-seasoned. The fried green tomatoes were also under seasoned. The biscuits with the honey butter were delicious, as were the collard greens. However I do think the collard greens would benefit from thicker larger cuts of bacon rather than thin slivers of bacon. The thicker cuts of bacon would give better textural contrast. Because the atmosphere and concept of The Lumberyard is so great, I really hope that the food continues to improve. I think Pullman really would benefit from a place like...
