CJ's Tavern — Restaurant in Punta Gorda

Local dive bar, cash only, & be ready to meet all kinds of characters from around the country. It's not just a local spot. When other places close early (midnight during the week if it's slow) this is were people go, including staff of nearby establishments. CJ's & Shorty's always open until 2am while other places in the area advertise the same, they don't always stay open to the advertised closing time.

Excellent service, jukebox, pool, plenty of tv's & variety of beverages. It's where you go before going home if you're partying in Punta Gorda. Just be sure to grab a Lyft home or have a DD. Have fun & be safe...

Typically we love this bar.. however our latest visit on a Sunday was less than desirable. Older bartender was less than kind when we inquired about a specific football game. The bar was less than half full and every other bar in town that airs football was packed. She proceeded to tell us that they only watch Red Zone. I asked if they considered putting different games on different televisions she got defensive and stated they do it this way and it's not negotiable. We did not appreciate the negative treatment after paying 12 bucks for a single drink and an Ultra. Develope some class. Our money...

Great place to dine and unwind. Service was excellent. Mackenzie was fast and attentive. Better half had the Aloha salad with shrimp and she says it’s delicious. I had the Grouper basket and it was honestly the best fried grouper I’ve had. Coated in a corn meal crust and their tartar sauce is really good too. The only negative was that they were out of tequila and vodka which was odd for a bar.
