On Oct.4 I tried calling several times to make a reservation for my husbands birthday but no one would answer the phone. Now I understand they have been busy making pizzas for some of the first responders after hurricane Ian went through and it is wonderful of them to do. So I decided to send an email to them about making a reservation. My email was answered by Giuseppe- "Hi , Karen sorry for the inconvenient for witch location ? and how many guests and time please." Me- "Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. In Punta Gorda, just the two of us hoping for around 6-6:30". Giuseppe- hi Karen , confirmed looking forward to see tonight. Sincerely, Giuseppe When we arrived at the restaurant the gentleman we are too busy to take reservation by email. I tried to show him the email but he refused to honor our reservation. This was 6 days after a hurricane we still had no electric and most restaurants were still closed which is why I was wanting a reservation. He, I believe his name is Nico was so very rude and completely ruined my husbands 76th birthday. The next day I emailed Giuseppe back Me- Good morning Giuseppe, We arrived at Pizza Gorda last night for my husbandâs birthday reservation only to turned away at the door. The gentleman inside told us they do not take reservations by email. There seems to have been miscommunication between you and the staff at the restaurant but all I know is my husbands birthday was completely ruined. Giuseppe- Hi Karen, I am terribly sorry to hear about the reservation. I am not sure what was the source of confusion. I called and made the reservations and was told it was confirmed. I sincerely apologize about the inconvenient. Sincerely, Giuseppe Just because you do a good deed by giving free pizzas to our first responders does not excuse your rude behavior to a customer. We thought your pizza was good but not that good. We will not be back. We will get our pizza fix at Bellas in Port Charlotte. If the roads weren't flooded we would have gone there in the first place. Better food and treated...
Read moreWe were so excited to go based on the other reviews and the pizza in the pictures (nice fluffy brick oven crust), but thatâs nothing like what we got-just the typical thin crust, all the toppings fall off, super-oily pepperoni pizza you get anywhere in SWFLâbut for twice the price!
I ordered wings and the server said that âspicy is REALLY spicyâ, so I got the only other option of âoriginalâ and they were just completely unsauced wings that were clearly cooked too long over heat that was way too high; they were so dry that nobody could even eat them. The server saw that only one wing out of 6 just had one bite out of it and asked why. We said that she never told us that original meant âunsaucedâ and they were super dry to the point of being inedible, and she just said âthatâs unfortunateâ and charged us for them anyway.
$65 for an order of wings so overdone that they couldnât be eaten and (2) small pizzas, a pepperoni that was dripping with grease and the toppings fell off every time you tried to eat it and a âveganâ that was completely flavorless even though it looked like someone dumped a whole bucket worth of random vegetables on it; $65 for two small pizzas and 6 wings and we didnât even leave with any leftovers because it was all so bad =(
The tables were far too close together and it was so loud that we couldnât hear each other talk.
We went on a Monday night in early January around 6:30pm. The owner was there, but too busy shooting the breeze with anyone that would listen to him, to even notice that we were thereâlet alone completely unsatisfied.
It was just a bad experience all the way around and we wonât be going back, which is so unfortunate because we were really looking forward to trying it. Oh well,...
Read moreWe recently visited Pizza Gorda, an Italian restaurant, and was blown away by the quality of the food. The fresh ingredients used in their dishes and pizzas made all the difference in the world. Every bite was bursting with flavor and the taste was simply fantastic. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also lovely, with a cozy ambiance that made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly, and provided great service throughout my visit. They were very attentive to my needs and made sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my meal. In particular, I would like to mention the Tiramisu dessert, which was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect way to end my meal and I would highly recommend it to anyone who visits Pizza Gorda. Overall, I was really impressed with Pizza Gorda and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great Italian restaurant.
