Since 2014, I always swore there would never be a teriyaki joint that has Song’s Teriyaki (tacoma, near fircrest) beat on price, service, quality of food and the amount of food you get. I was a LOYAL customer to Song’s Teriyaki since 2014. At times eating there more than once a week. Fast forward to 2017, we move out of state and there’s isn’t any “teriyaki joints” in town. VERY SAD AND HEARTBREAKING, seeing there is a teriyaki joint on every corner in the greater Seattle area like there a Starbucks shops. We eventually move back to WA state and WE MUST GO BACK TO SONG’S. We were so happy we were now able to eat at our spot again. Well needless to say, the owners sold the joint and NEW MANAGEMENT SUCKS and so does the food quality and portions. Overall, we’ll never spend a dime there after being so loyal since 2014.
Now we’ve been on the hunt for a new teriyaki joint to be loyal to. WELL FOLKS WE FOUND IT HERE AT HAPPY TERIYAKI #11. You walk in and the place looks like a freaking sit down Chinese restaurant. Atmosphere is laid back, place is buzzin with customers. We placed our order over the phone for pick up. Now we decided on the places based off the reviews and the pictures of the food portions. Boy the pics don’t do them any justice. As I walked in, I walked past customers eating huge portions. This was around 12pm I believe. So idk if they order the dinner size even tho it was lunch but if they didn’t, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. As I wait for my order to be ready, I see waiters walking past me with hot, deliciously looking food that was portioned VERY generously. I almost wanted to stop the waiter and ask her what the dish was and if that was the dinner or lunch portion. As I leave with my food, I walk past more customers who were enjoying good looking food with VERY generous portions. I’m thinking to myself, i think I found the ONE! I hurriedly get home to the wife to tell her what I saw on my adventure. I expressed to my wife that we could easily share one plate if we ever ate inside. I also told her how delicious the food looked. We order the “Happy trio” (I believe this is what it’s called. One order of chicken Yaki, one Order of Katsu and one order of Yakisoba.) I eagerly open the boxes of food, excited to see the food portions and I WAS BLOWN AWAY! IT WAS FREAKING HUGE!!!! This meal is suppose to feed 3-4 ppl. First bite of the chicken yaki was AMAZING. The first bite of the katsu was AMAZING. The first bite of the yakisoba was okay. Don’t mind my yAkisoba review, there’s a place in Gig Harbor called Tokyo teriyaki, I think it’s called this, that I am a FAITHFUL customer too. I always get the prawn Yakisoba and I think they have the best in town from what I have previously eaten at other joints.
Anywho, the point of the review is TRY THIS PLACE because you won’t be disappointed. FOOD A+, CUSTOMER SERVICE A+, PORTIONS A+, PRICE A+. Happy Teriyaki #11 has my money as long as they stay true to who they are and don’t change in the future. NEW FAITHFUL AND LOYAL CUSTOMER...
Read moreWe saw the reviews about this place online and wanted to go try it, because there were a lot of good reviews and it says the food is great. I ordered the wonton soup and fried egg rolls, glad I got the small size soup because it tasted like hot water with rice noodles, egg, and 2 dumplings with no seasonings added, some salt will help it, but It was so bland I couldn’t finish it. Took a bite on the vegetable fried spring rolls, it was nice and hot on the outside, and it was mushy and the veggies inside was frozen. SMH. For entrees, my husband got the $25 teriyaki chicken and short ribs plate(please if you go here don’t bother getting it) , and I asked for the chicken yakisoba noodle without the veggies. I had my hopes up hoping our entrees will be better than the appetizers we got, but I guess I was wrong about it too. My noodles came out so dry I had to ask the waitress for teriyaki sauce or soy sauce just so I can add some flavor and sauce in it. SMH. I couldn’t finish that either. Sigh. My husband’s chicken teriyaki and short ribs was a disappointment too, I don’t know what kind of marinate the chef uses to marinate those short ribs, but he needs to change it because it’s not the business. All you can taste is salty, and it does not have a teriyaki taste or some kind of sweet and a kick of spice in it. So don’t waste your money getting the short ribs plate here. I gave 2 stars, because the waitress and the customer service here was good. They were really nice and kind to the customers. I guess they just need to bring in a new chef. We paid $78 dollars for bland salty food, and frozen...
Read moreI’ve heard that this is the original teriyaki spot that introduced teriyaki to the Northwest decades ago. Make sure to visit this location on River Road—not the copycat one with the same name.
I’ve been wanting to try Happy Teriyaki for a while, so my mom and I took my 3-year-old there for lunch, and we were beyond impressed. I was expecting your typical walk-up teriyaki joint, but this is far from that. It’s a full sit-down restaurant with beautiful decor and a serene atmosphere. The highlight? A stunning koi pond in the middle of the dining area that created a peaceful vibe. My 3-year-old loved watching the fish, and the sweet server even brought him some fish food so he could feed them. Any restaurant that keeps a 3-year-old entertained is already winning in my book!
The cleanliness and attention to detail were remarkable. I’ve been to countless teriyaki spots in Seattle and LA, and this was by far the cleanest and nicest I’ve ever experienced.
Now, let’s talk about the food. The portions are huge—like “how do they make money serving this much?” huge. We had leftovers for both dinner and lunch the next day. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki + tonkatsu combo, and my mom had the regular chicken teriyaki + tonkatsu combo. I also grabbed a to-go order for my husband, and he loved it just as much as we did.
The food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was top-notch. 10/10! I can’t...
