No PT today. Instead it was traffic court in Puyallup to ask for a reduction of a ticket we got on the way to a PT appointment in Puyallup back in March. Ray did not completely stop while making a right turn in a red light and the traffic camera caught him. It is pretty hard to contest video. He wasn’t going fast, not that it makes it right, but he has a perfect driving record, so the ticket was reduced.
We had passed Mrs. Turner’s on the way so we decided to stop there afterwards. I had fond memories eating there with parents and grandparents as a kid. Their fried chicken was the best. I had eaten there a few more times since then, but it has easily been 20 years since I was there last.
The restaurant was relatively empty when we entered. Several tables still needed to be cleaned, including ours, before we could be seated. She brought out two clean cups but still put the same ones which had been sitting unused back down after wiping the table. We should have left them.
Our server was friendly and brought us menus and water right away. We both ordered coffee. It has been quite some time since I have had coffee as thin and tasteless as this was. No amount of cream or sugar helped. Ray drinks his coffee black and agreed it was pretty weak tasting and somewhat bitter.
I decided on a build your own omelette with Kielbasa and cheddar cheese. Hash browns were the only potato option. I chose sourdough toast instead of pancakes. I have no idea if I chose well. Ray ordered the waffle with strawberries and whipping cream, and 2 scrambled eggs.
Our meals arrived and Ray’s waffle was without the strawberries. Our server immediately and kindly took the waffle back to the kitchen to have it covered in strawberries and whipping cream.
Ray’s waffle was OK. The strawberries were hard, woody, and tasteless. They were just like the crappy ones I bought at the grocery store last week.
I was suspicious of the Kielbasa when my omelette was delivered. I was right. My omelette was made with a hotdog and the entire omelette was swimming in grease. I debated sending it back but did not. The hash browns were OK, as was the toast. One side of the toast had a big blob of butter between the two pieces. The other side had none.
The restaurant wasn’t slammed busy and neither was the kitchen. The rest of the diners were finishing meals. Only 2 other people came in after us. I did not see other meals, like take out orders, leaving the kitchen, besides their orders.
I read the story on the back of the menu. They have changed owners a few times and so has the quality. One table is full of inexpensive jewelry for sale and the entire counter in front of the till has more of the same.
The entrance has items for sale as you walk through the front door. It is hard to tell if it a restaurant or trinket store.
Sadly, our entire meal was a disappointment. The bratty child at the next table didn’t help the atmosphere. We won’t be...
Read moreMy wife and I had been searching for a Sunday morning breakfast restaurant that was good and close to home for quite some time. We were elated when we found this place. The service wand food were good although there were the minor mishaps here and there but that is to be expected.
Then comes today!! My Wife and I arrived around 10:45AM the place was busy as usual we put our name on the list (my wife likes to sit at a table so we requested one) and were told “it will be a while” we then sat down in the waiting area after 5-10 Min a couple walked in and was greeted by a waitress (they looked like regulars) and the waitress proceed to say that she knew that they liked sitting at a table and immediately sat them at an available table. Wait isn't there a wait list?? I guess we don't frequent the establishment enough to skip the wait list?? My wife suggested we say something but I said lets wait and I will say something later.
We waited another 10 minutes or so to be seated at a table around 11:15.
We then ordered our coffee and breakfast while another large group finished up next to us, after they left and another group sat down 10-15 minutes after we ordered. We then waited....and waited....and waited patiently for our food after about 45 minutes I asked for a Manager at that point I set a timer to see how long it would take for a manager to arrive. After 10 minutes of waiting for a manager the large table next to us was finally served there breakfast?? Wait? What?? They came in 10-15 minutes after us?? what is going on here?
I then told my wife we were leaving so we got up and went to the front counter and asked again for a Manager (the couple that came in after us and were immediately seated were walking out the front door!?!?) The Manager or (Mrs Turner?) then came up to us and immediately started to make excuses about their new system and would not listen to what I had to say about the entire visit. I understand that you have a new system but listen to your customer and then offer a solution! We were given no solution so I told her we were leaving. There was no offer to make it right so I guess we will have to find a new favorite Sunday breakfast place. We exited the place at 12 noon with no Breakfast so we went...
Read moreI come here on a regular basis with my friends. The food is always exceptional and service is also usually pretty good.
Today however, it was quite opposite and very disappointing. Our waitress was very pushy, rude, and insulting. English seems not to be her native language so I did my best to remain patient with her.
Multiple times we told our waitress we were going to order more food to go but she kept bringing us a check when we weren't finished ordering or done ordering drinks that you get charged for refilling.
After the 3rd time we finally got upset and requested to the the manager. The manager failed to come speak with us after being requested to do so 3 times. We waited a long time for the manager and just gave up.
Our to go order was supposed to be without parsley on the item but the waitress openly said she didn't hear me say that and blamed us as the customers for our communication, but she repeated the order back to us with that request and I said it was correct.
Since the manager seemed too busy to talk to her customers today I voiced my concerns with the host (who's always amazing and wears awesome shoes). I did so calmly and was not asking for a discount or free stuff. I simply wanted to voice my disappointment with the level of service today.
The waitress we had an issue with saw me talking to the host and came over and said "No discount ". Again, very rude and aggressive. I as a customer have a right to express my displeasure with a service being provided. I wasn't a jerk to her but she felt the need to be a jerk. This lady isn't even a manager, who is she to come up and tell someone not to do something that I'm not even asking for?
The manager should be embarrassed how her server conducted herself today, and should also be a little more responsive herself.
Hopefully the service is...
