I don’t normally do this but I didn’t tip for the first time in my life today. I feel horrible but I’m also incredibly tired of companies not taking customer service seriously and blatantly showing lack of care for their mistakes, still making others pay for it. I myself work in customer service and it’s so disheartening to go out to eat to try and have a nice time with my wife while we talk through some of the hardships we are facing in life, only to have a not so good experience and have to beg for help multiple times and then still leaving disappointed and upset and still hungry. Long story short, I ordered a combo that came with eggs, bacon, pancakes and hash browns. Upon ordering i asked if I could have chocolate chips in the pancakes and was told it would be an up charge of $1.89. Ridiculous but that’s the world we live in so I was fine with it. After a long wait, our food came but there were no pancakes. They said they were still waiting on the pancakes. I had no issue and ate what parts of my meal were there. I finished and my wife was finishing up her meal as well. Hadn’t seen the waitress since the food was dropped off and still missing the main part of my meal. I had to get up and look for the someone as we were done eating and ready to go. I found our waitress and kindly said “hey the pancakes never came and we have finished and are ready to go. Can I get the check and can a manager please comp my meal?” She said yeah and we waited. We got the receipt and it had $1.89 taken off. So the up charge for the chocolate chips. I asked when we saw the waitress next if she could explain to me how it was discounted and she couldn’t and said she’s ask the manager. She came back with another receipt with a new total of another $1 off…still unsure of how it was discounted. I then asked to speak to a manager to have a direct line of understanding. The manager came over and said asked if we got the new receipt with the $5 discount on it and we said the waitress was currently away with it and running our card. We were so over the back and forth, we let it go because we were reaching deaf ears and a manager that didn’t seem to care or understand that we were still paying for food we didn’t get and I was still leaving hungry. There was no apology or any concern from the waitress, even initially, which was disheartening as well. I have also done serving jobs and saw flaw after flaw in their system and management. In all my past experiences working in restaurants, the meal would have been comped entirely and we would have gotten the customer a to-go order or offered something. I’m not looking for free hand outs, but damn!!! I just wanted to have a nice meal with my wife and instead I’m paying for a meal I didn’t have and leaving hungry and pissed off. I also had “pancoins,” from the rewards to use as well and we didn’t even utilize them because of the lack of competency in this experience. I’m so disappointed and appalled by the greed of this company at this point, I’m not planning on being back any time soon. Good luck...
Read moreVery poor service from our waitress today. We came in for brunch for my moms birthday because she wanted breakfast and usually loves IHOP. That was not the case today. Our waitress took about 20 minutes to even acknowledge or greet us and when she finally did she came up to us and said "sorry it's really busy but what can I get you guys to drink" mind you it was not very busy at all. Maybe steady, but to say busy would be an overstatement. She finally brought our drinks out 10 minutes after ordering it and we asked for sugar once, no reply or acknowledgment from her once again so we ask again; this time she says "IM GRABBING IT! THANKS!" As she storms away with an attitude. At the end we ask for two separate tabs with my food and my kids food on it and she brings back the tabs with one card charged for $31 and change and the other over $80. We tell her this isn't right and she takes it away and brings back an itemized receipt and says "well I looked at it and it's right sooo" and just walks away. So we add up the tab which only comes out to $62 and change. I walk up to her to inform her that this isn't correct and she, very frustrated with us, tell us that it's because the tax. We say no that doesn't sound right and to speak to a manager. She grabs the receipt out of my moms hand and storms off as she says "OH MY GOD!" The manager went over the whole tab with us and turns out she didn't even split our tabs correctly and had random things on random tabs. She walks out again and I tell her that she is awful and she replies back "You are too!" It was honestly embarrassing watching a 50 year old woman act so immature especially in her work environment and even more so that her literal job is to deal with guests all day and give great service. I am a server as well so I know how it goes but I also know when you are stressed or having a bad day you NEVER take it out on...
Read moreWe walk in. Group of 4 at 623pm. Only afew tables used. Most of the tables have food. We get seated quickly. Waiter within a minute or two, takes our drink order (waters), and since our child is hungry we order his meal right there. Waiter confirms with us if it's okay the kids food come out first we say yes so he sent in the order. Afew minutes later we get our water. 10 minutes later after seating 4 other parties and getting their waters... comes back for our orders. Good enough so far.
705pm. Another group comes in. 2 people. They get seated. They order.
Time is now 718pm. No water refill. No food for the kid. The couple that came in 40 minutes after everyone else gets their food..... I'm not the only table who notices.
We get our food afew minute later. My hashbrowns raw. Pancakes cold and hard. Knife couldn't cut them. I asked for fresh pancakes as these were cold. No scent just..hey these are cold... oh no issue they say. They take the plate. A minute later a different girl comes back and says here you go.. I'm like wait did you just stick these in a microwave? I see my knife mark still and yup.. my knife still wont go through... she goes quiet and takes the plates back.
Remember how we ordered my kids food near an hour ago before we ordered ours? Still not here. Had to remind the waiter as he did his walk by check up... who pulled out the receipt checked and said oh yeah.... kids pancake comes out looking like a Pollack painting with... not going to get graphic but you can only assume. His single pancakes is Also cold but kid doesn't care because it has sprinkles.
Fresh pancakes brought. This is the international house of pancakes. You should be ashamed for having brought microwaved pancakes. Water still not refilled. We ask for it. Got it after we finished eating.
We paid and left at 805pm.
