I recently visited Applebee's in Quincy, MA, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The parking situation is a definite plus—there are plenty of spaces available, making it easy to get in and out without any hassle. I went there with my husband after a long day of shopping, looking for a late birthday treat and an early Mother's Day celebration, and I was excited to finally try a place I had heard mixed reviews about.
The atmosphere was welcoming and calm. I appreciated the option to sit at the bar if you wanted a more relaxed vibe or choose a high-top table, which I personally dislike in restaurants. It was nice to see families and couples enjoying their meals without feeling crowded, as we visited during a quieter time.
Our server, the bartender, was exceptional. She seemed to be the heart of the place, multitasking as she took orders, made drinks, and checked on our meals. Her attentive service truly elevated our experience. The food came out incredibly fast—less than half an hour, which was surprising. I ordered a simple dish of fries and shrimp, which was tasty, while my husband tried the baby back ribs. Unfortunately, his ribs weren't cooked properly the first time and had to be sent back. We noticed a couple of other customers had similar complaints about undercooked meat, suggesting they may need to be more mindful about cooking times.
Aside from the meat issues, the fries were delicious, and I enjoyed my shrimp as well. However, after eating the meat, I did experience some discomfort, which made me cautious about the quality of the food. The drink selection was impressive; I particularly enjoyed the cocktails, which were well-made and refreshing.
The cleanliness of the restaurant was commendable, with tidy tables and restrooms. The music was pleasant and added to the overall ambiance. However, I found the menu somewhat limited, and it felt like there weren't many appealing options.
In summary, It's a hit and a miss. Their friendly service and inviting atmosphere, especially for families or couples looking for a casual night out. Just be cautious with the meat dishes and perhaps check with your server about cooking preferences. Overall, it was a solid experience, and I appreciated the bartender's hospitality, which made the...
Read moreRude and inattentive bartenders and management are the least of my concerns regarding the horrendous experience this restaurant offers, especially when I have never seen this place more than half full.
Panera Bread is less than 100 feet away from this tragedy of a restaurant. Not only is the food better, but the staff who do not rely on tips are more concerned about your visit than the staff at Applebees.
I have frequented this restaurant for the sole reason it is extremely close to my residence, but I cannot (literally) stomach the horrendous food and terrible neglect the bartenders and management are so accustomed to providing.
I am finally finished with this "black sheep" of the Applebees chain after :
Finding a glued-on label mixed in with the Margarita Chicken. Waiting at the bar for a condiment or drink only to find out the server is busy outside smoking cigarettes for 15 minutes. Consistently over and under cooking of any type of meat asked to be "medium rare". Putting up with a drainage pipe at the bar that overflows constantly and releases a fine stench of raw sewage while I attempt to consume my meal. Servers placing food I did not order in front of me or servers placing my food in front of other people, then openly arguing with the bartenders about what number at the bar they placed the order under. Bathrooms that are so slippery, I have to hold onto something so I do not fall down (I have never seen any member of Applebees mop the floor, so draw your own conclusion as to what I am constantly slipping on). By far the rudest bartenders and servers I have ever encountered. To request an additional dipping sauce is treated as though I am asking for one of their limbs.
I could go on for days, but this place is not worth the effort to explain exactly why to stay away. For an establishment that I have never seen half full, it amazes me the abrasiveness of the bartenders and management. I have worked in the restaurant business, and I can assure you every main course comes directly out of the freezer where it has been festering in for far too long.
Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from an experience you will wish...
Read moreAbsolutely worst dine out experience i have had. I have worked at restaurants before and tonight was pathetic. We got sat at a table by a hostess. Our waitress got us our drinks and appetizers then she took our dinner order and let us know that another waitress lets call her waitress X was going to take over. That was fine. 10 minutes goes by and waitress X comes out asking about how the kitchen could do a certain dish and asked if that was ok. I said yes and i also asked for a refill on my drink. She took my cup and walked away. She never introduced herself or anything. Then 10 minutes goes by again. She is over at the bar area with her phone and iced coffee in her hand. I called over a different waitress and asked for a manager. She asked what was wrong i said i was waiting 10 minutes for my drink and she made excuses for the other waitress then said the manager is on the cook line. Fine. She got me my drink then we waited an additional 20 minutes for our food. Waitress X went to a table next to us multiple times bringing them their food and drinks and checking on them. She didnt come to us once until our food was out. She dropped off our food and walked away. Mu moms food was cold. I needed to ask for more napkins. She was again standing in the bar area and i made i contact with her and tried to wave her over and she looked away and walked out back. I asked the hostess to get a manager. She came back with the same waitress i asked for a manager before. She said that the manager is still on the food line. And i told her this has been ridiculous. She then tells me waitress X is not our assigned waitress. I tell her what our first waitress said and she says well she miss informed you. Then the hostess said that this is "original waitress section" so our table is unassigned. So i asked if u knew the first waitress was leaving why were we sat here? We have no waitress at all? She said no and that we could pay on the kiosk. I asked for 2 boxes paid and left. Absolutely pathetic. Never got to speak to a...
