I travel enough to know what to expect. My stay at this hotel was mixed and while most employees were helpful there were a couple that should probably not be customer facing. I will start by saying my first complaint may be partly my issue. We booked a weeklong stay through JetBlue Paisley for 209 a night. I then decided after to come in a day early and booked directly through the hotel. When I called I mentioned my week booking and asked if the rate for one night added would be the same and was told it would be. My part? I received the confirmation but did not scroll to the bottom where the rate showed to be over 400 for one night. I assumed what I was told would be the rate. Shame on me. When we arrived and was told the rate I explained the situation and was told that they don’t know what we pay 3rd part bookers and that it was impossible no matter what that I was paying 209 a night even with third party. They would not back down form the high rate and arriving at 11PM I was not feeling like arguing. I was told to speak to the manager which I did and was told he’d bring it to the general manager. Almost a week later I still have not heard back. That’s the first part. As we got to the room the card would not open the door so we went back to desk and they re-programmed it. Went back up and still could not get in. Mention of possible broken lock was mentioned so I asked if we could just get another room and was told they were sold out. Building engineer was called and he determined that room was already occupied. Back to the desk again and they were able to magically come up with another room. Off to a good start and it did not get much better after that. At least one elevator of two was down almost the whole time and one morning both were down. The fire alarm went off at 7AM one morning and I assume it was related to broken elevators as there were signs saying to use stairs which were according to signs on second floor alarmed summoning the fire department and of course setting of alarm. A little foresight on hotels part to maybe disable alarm during the elevator outage may have prevented people walking through an alarmed door that they were told to use. We were also told there would be a 100 dollar hold for incidentals such as parking etc. I was fine with that and we exceeded that by about Thursday by about 20 dollars. They then put a 278 dollar hold on my card for a day or two for the remainder. It was only 2 days!!! I am still waiting for them to release that and for an answer as to why such a high hold. I was told the GM would call me and have left messages and still have not heard back almost a week later. |The room itself while billed as a suite was small though that was not an issue as we don’t spend much time in there. It was clean and maid service was good. |Hope if you stay here it goes better for you than for us. So much for a...
Read moreMostly I enjoyed my stay here but there are some kinks to work out as a newer hotel. I spent five nights here in September. I would stay again though!
Room - My room was very nice and the bed was comfy. Pillows were awful though; I had a headache a few mornings from the crick in my neck. The couch was comfortable. Shower could be really hot sometimes which would be nice after a long day in Boston but temperature wasn’t consistent. I had reserved a bathtub but got in a little early so am guessing I traded my tub for the extra hour. Overall, the hotel was so quiet! I loved that!
Room service - I wasn’t expecting service 4 of the 5 days so that was nice to have. But, they do not know how to properly make a bed. How is the bottom sheet always needing to be redone so it doesn’t come off at night? Don’t tuck the covers in so severely as I think the tension is causing the bottom sheet issue. Also, check the kitchen for restocking. I only ever got one dishwasher packet. I had to request more at the front desk.
Location/value - The proximity to the red line was great! It’s expensive to stay in Boston so this hotel offered a pretty convenient location for the price. Quincy is a nice area and it’s quick to get into the city. The Boston transit offerings are very nice! There is a lot that is easily walkable and nearby to eat and stock kitchenette. We had no need for a car at all.
Front desk staff were always helpful and friendly!
The kinks - There was only one washer working and many people doing laundry. I literally had a lady run past me in the hall to beat me to the washer! There was only one elevator working at a time. It’s too big of a hotel with inconvenient stairs for that. Breakfast was never stocked well and the pancake machine was out most of the days. I was there during the week and the hotel was very busy so I think you need more staff to stock properly (although people were taking a lot of stuff for “later” so maybe not stocking helps with basically providing snacks and lunches for those who feel entitled to it?) The young fellow was always nice when I had to ask for something. The ice machines are touchy and run out of ice easily. While I did enjoy the smaller ice for my drinks I think the sturdy ice machines of most hotels would work better for your size as traveling to different floors to find ice isn’t convenient with one elevator out at all times.
This Staybridge does not have an evening reception M-W like many in...
Read moreI had a three-night stay in Boston and needed somewhere that I believed to be good value for money, that I could get around without a car. Hotels in the city were very expensive for the dates I was looking for, so I looked for hotels along the subway routes into the city that could be more cost-effective for me. Bring on the Staybridge Suites. I could not have been happier with my stay there!||||I arrived very early on my first day and wanted to see if I could leave my luggage at the hotel early. They actually had my room ready so allowed me an early check in without fee. The room was great – I was made up! The kitchenette had a full-sized fridge / freezer, along with plates, glasses, cutlery, an oven, microwave, coffee maker etc. The room was very clean and an ample size. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had loads of good quality towels and toiletries. It was spot on!||||The hotel has a breakfast daily with pretty much everything you could want – hot food (meat, eggs, potatoes, waffles), pastries, cakes, bread (bread, bagels, English muffins), cereal, yoghurt, fruit, etc. I managed to have something different every day and it was all being replenished frequently so you knew the food was fresh.||||The staff I interacted with during my time here were all friendly – from the staff on the front desk to the staff in the breakfast area. ||||Location wise, it was only a small walk to the subway which was about 15-20 minutes into downtown Boston on the red line. I found the trains to be quite frequent, though could be up to 20 minutes between trains if you just missed one. I was lucky that every time I got to the station, it was only a few minutes until the next one. There are also a number of shops / restaurants in the area. There’s “small” Target, and huge Stop and Shop for people needing groceries, and a little further walk to Hancock Street seemed to have a number of fast-food places / restaurants.||||One thing of note is that my room was opposite a site where construction was taking place. Work seemed to commence around 7am each day and was quite loud - I imagine it would wake people up who may be wanting a lie-in. I was lucky as I was up at this time anyways, but it's something to bear in mind. I understand the hotel cannot control construction work, so I wouldn't hold it against them (but worth a mention to anyone who does like a lie-in).||||||This hotel was great for my needs, and I wouldn’t hesitate to...
