Have you ever gone to a place that has not been what you expected, but in retrospect, you should have expected it? That's Malachy's. From the outside, it looked like a quaint, towny Irish Tavern that might serve traditional Irish-American comfort food. It's not. They actually don't serve food at all. They don't have waitstaff, and the bartender, though friendly, was definitely annoyed at us, having interrupted his television to ask for a beer. He informed us that if we wanted food, we could pick some up at the Thai place next door and bring it back and eat it at the bar. The aging clientele seemed only moments away from joining the numerous memorial cards pinned to the wall.
