The food was pretty good but could definitely be improved.
Out of all the things I tried, the pizza was the best. Good flavor, decent crisp, but the flavor and texture of the crust leave a lot to be desired. The crust is very doughy and lacks the chewiness and bubblyness and that makes an ideal crust. 7/10
The cheesesteak was good as well. It had a lot of flavor and the texture of the beef was great. A nice lacey browning on the meat was present. The two drawbacks was that there was very little cheese to this cheesesteak, which made it very dry. It also had an almost embarassing amount of steak, as it was mostly bread. Triple the meat and add more cheezewiz and this would easily be a showstopper. 6.5/10
Mozzarella sticks were decent at best. They lack flavor and were not crispy, very light colored. An extra minute or two in the fryer for a darker crisp and a more seasoned dredge would help. The marinara was a little runny but it was tasty. 5.5/10.
The backlava was okay. It was a little too chewey, dry, and not a lot of flakyness. Was not very flavorful. Could use a more of syrup and maybe a pistacio crumble on top. 5.5/10.
The wings were, for the lack of a better word, upsetting. They're labeled as "buffalo wings" but are nothing of the sort. The wings came heavily breaded, soggy, and minimally dressed in a buffalo type sauce. Buffalo wings should never be breaded, should be crispy, and should be dripping in a spicy, vinegary sauce. If you want to make wings like that fine, just don't call them Buffalo wings. I wouldn't have ordered them if I knew these details. 3/10.
Overall, the food was tasty. A little more attention to detail and the food could really be...
Read moreAfter moving over an hour and a half away from my old favorite pizza spot, I was really hoping to find something that could come close. Every place I tried kept disappointing, until a coworker recommended Nick’s Pizza. And now? It’s officially one of my new favorites.
The first time I tried it was about two years ago, and I still get excited for every slice. That first bite brought me right back to 2005, standing in Westport as a kid with my dad at our go-to pizza place. Nick’s gave me that same feeling.
The shop is always clean, the staff are friendly, and the food is consistently great. In a time where most places are overcharging, I appreciate that Nick’s keeps their prices fair and true to the quality they deliver. You can tell they take pride in what they do.
If you’re looking for a legit pizza spot, with way more than just pizza—give Nick’s a try. You...
