The Vanilla Bean — Restaurant in Radnor Township

While visiting my daughter, who attends college near Wayne, PA, we were looking for a great ice cream spot and discovered The Vanilla Bean. We’re from the West Coast and loved the unique concept—select a base ice cream and mix in your choice of two ingredients using a special machine. I chose vanilla ice cream with Reese’s peanut butter cups and pretzels, and the result was a delicious dessert customized to my taste!

On our second visit, the owner was working behind the counter, assisting the staff and prepping for the next day. Tried for first time. But I couldn’t finish my ice cream which is the reason for the one star. My order tasted nothing of what I ordered but it tasted all peanut butter which I did not order on my ice cream. After watching the girls make it, I realize they didn’t wash the machine in between making mine. Please wash the machine in between especially when it’s peanut butter. Again mine tasted like what I didn’t order. Cool concept and I wanted to like it especially for what I ordered but it didn’t work out...

It’s good to see something new in Wayne, but don’t understand how a place that sells coffee opens at 12. I don’t want coffee at 12. It’s time for lunch. Good thing gryphons is still open. Also, the ice cream is ok. The milk is too thick like whole milk. It doesn’t taste homemade. I took some home for the family and they ended up throwing it out. I’ll past on this place. Also having to pay for parking just to get ice cream is ridiculous. Bryn Mawr and suburban square offers free parking. Wayne needs to get...
