The kind of bookstore every neighborhood should have. People these days shop around for the lowest price on books as if they spend as much on books as they do on food and as if they'd starve without books. For a place like this, I have no objection to going in and paying full price for a hardback. Don't get me wrong, though, they do have good deals. If you spend a certain amount per year there is a free discount plan you can tap into. Also, I gave them my email address and the only email I've gotten from them is one telling me I can get a substantial discount on one item during the month my birthday is in. When you consider how many hours it'll take you to read a book, even full-price books are a bargain. Main Point Books also has very comfortable seats to sit in if you feel like sampling a chapter and a very knowledgeable staff. If you don't know Wayne, it's a destination worth visiting in its own right. Lots of good restaurants and, if you're not up for a full meal, Gryphon Coffee is as good a coffee shop as you'll find anywhere. Also the Anthony Wayne Movie Theater features first-run movies. This is all within easy walking distance from SEPTA's Wayne Train Station, which has a platform level with the train for those who may require that, as do I. Go to the upper parking lots if you want to park for hours. Park free after six...
Read moreAs a fan of Independently-owned bookstores, i was severely disappointed to be discriminated against for choosing not to wear a mask. The kids were screaming for “Barnes & Noble”, but my loyalty to small biz won out. After paying for parking and getting my two boys excited for this bookstore, I was so sad to learn that “people like me” aren’t welcome in this store. I didn’t even get my own water fountain! I find it ironic that the windows of this store are covered in Racism/Antiracism books, yet they are perfectly fine discriminating against people that are different from them. Out of principle, i can’t leave one star for a bookstore, but I’ll certainly be speaking with my pocketbook and shopping at the big box store for books. So far, its...
Read moreThis store had been owned by others for several years until recently. They were well meaning book lovers, but the store got frayed and crammed and often felt more like a used bookstore than one where you bought new books. The new people have it right. Their inventory is not what you'll find at a Barnes & Noble, but it's well curated and the space is one you'll enjoy browsing in. The staff is friendly but not overbearing, as staff in small stores can be sometimes. And the truth about bookstores is that you could go to a bookstore with just a thousand titles and you'd find something you like. (They, of course, have many...
