Y'all. The food at this place is phenomenal, and you won't regret treating yourself to what my husband and I fondly refer to as, crack chicken. However, don't place a catering order with this establishment. I placed an order last week for a work lunch today, it was a simple order for 18 people. I submitted an online form, and then spoke with Chanibel on the phone. She got my card number, confirmed delivery time and the sides that we wanted with our order. I asked at the end of the call if there was anything else we needed to do to confirm, and she said we were good to go! Cue today, no food at delivery time. I call, get sent to Chanibel, who proceeds to tell me that we never spoke on the phone to confirm. I told her I had a record of our call, that my boss heard the whole conversation because it was on speaker phone, and all she said was, "Oh, that's so weird. So weird I don't remember that." I'm not typically a leave a negative review person, never have in my life, but the fact that the business couldn't step up and own their failure - man, that was really lame. I was kind on the phone and gracious even as I realized I had no way to now feed a whole team of people at the last minute, but she wouldn't take responsibility for totally dropping the ball, or offer any sort of incentive for us to ever do business with them again. All that to say, love this place's food, but their customer service on the catering side is seriously sad. I hope there's a day when the quality of their service catches up with the quality of their food!
UPDATE: Alpaca has reached out directly to us, and they've gone above and beyond to remedy their mistake. I really appreciate their willingness to make things right and invest in a better future with us as customers who really didn't want to walk away from Raleigh's most delectable Peruvian fare! I will definitely reach out to them for a catering order in the future and give them a...
Read moreI am a transplant to NC from the DC area and finding great ethnic food in NC, my efforts have been futile so when I happened upon Mami Nora's I was a bit skeptical until I yelped them and low and behold everybody raved about this place. I decided to give it a try. I go in on a rainy day, mid-day and the place is bustling (a very good sign). Upon entering, I am immediately nostalgic for everything DC, yes, the smell indicates we are on the right track. I order my food to go. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with fries and plantains. I get my order and go out to my car but I can't leave, the smell is so intoxicating so I open my food container for what was going to be a taste. Well I almost gnawed my hand off, this was even better than Senor Chicken of Langley Park, it was heaven. I called my husband, a lover of all things Peruvian chicken and shared my experience and of course he wanted chicken. To make a long story short, Mami Nora's gets it right. I had the chicken, black beans and rice, fries and fried plantains and everything was delicious. I live about 45 minutes away but if I am ever in the neighborhood, its off to Mami Nora's for me. A real plus is the staff is warm...
Read moreA family member brought selections of food a few weeks ago - roasted cut up chicken - veggie soup & string beans. I was so impressed that I sought out this particular location while in the area. It’s is the old southsquare mall area off N 15 501 business - a turn at the the John Deere and on the right there’s the Alpaca sign - this location is right by the chuckle cheese building. It’s a delightful location with outdoor seating - lights strung above. Inside there was an incredible positive vibe when entering. It was very busy but the team was very kind and helpful. There’s a stuffed Alpaca right at the door. Even though the order was placed for curbside- I had to use my payment method their way as not accustomed to the ordering system but the young lady so kindly brought the food to the curbside where the hubby & I were parked. I ordered the chicken veggie soup- a real soup with what looked like hand chopped potatoes & veggies - rice & a whole roasted chicken cut up in 8th’s as requested plus tea and a coke. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal & very generous servings for...
