What a great experience! My family and I had never eaten at this BIG Ed's location. Since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped by about 15 minutes before closing. The staff welcomed us, yet cordially shared that the kitchen would close soon. Even in our haste, they were patient and kind. We ordered fried haddock, mac and cheese, cole slaw, potato salad, and meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and butter beans. We received biscuits and cornbread. Each meal included a beverage and dessert; spice cake and banana pudding. I dont know if words can express the greatness of the banana pudding. It was warm and definitely homemade. We got an additional order to take home..An unexpected delight, heaven sent. The butter beans were one of the few veggies not cooked in pork. The were delicious 😋. The cornbread was O So moist, the biscuits were fluffy yet light. All homemade. It was all amazing. I really didn't expect it to be so wonderful. The fish was cook to order. It was wonderful. Mac and cheese was great. The meatloaf was not bound by bread crumbs. It was meaty and flavorful. The gravy complimented the potatoes. Our waitress went over and beyond serving us and helping us make our order. Her name is Kathy Swayze. Very charming and excited about working at Big Ed's. We used to eat at the downtown location. We were honored to meet Big Ed and frequent that location, but our hearts are drawn to the North location. It's more space inside and parking. The host was nice and the waitress really was the best. We will share with many and definitely waiting to return. We applaud 👏 this location.

I went to Big Ed’s North located at the corner of Millbrook and Falls if Neuse for lunch Aug 16, 2023. It was my first time eating there. It states it’s a country diner and that it is. Good home cooking. Reasonable prices. Nice diner atmosphere. Very clean. I did not use the facilities so I can’t comment on that. I ordered the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn bread, peach cobbler (inc in the lunch price 🤤) and sweet tea to drink. The cost was $15 for all of that. The meal was delicious. The hamburger steak was cooked perfectly and not dried out. The mashed potatoes were not instant potatoes which is always a plus with me. Nothing like homemade mashed potatoes with gravy. The green beans were southern good, not crunchy, and the peach cobbler was cooked to perfection. I felt it had a great ratio of peaches to cobbler. I love sweet tea. What southern girl doesn’t love sweet tea? I thought the tea was a little heavy with sugar. It had a thicker consistency. Tea flavor was very good-not weak. Just a tad bit syrupy, but still good. We had to wait 10 min for a table, which isn’t long at all. If you prefer not to wait you can skip the line and check out the bar in the other room. If seats are available take a seat and enjoy your lunch! If not, just get back in line and wait for a table. Payment is not taken at the table. There is a cashier at the exit door. One final note-breakfast is served all day, everyday. I will definitely be going back to Big Ed’s North!

I left from a doctor appointment nearby and decided to grab a bite to eat. I usually eat at the Big eds in garner and downtown.I remember my dad saying there is one off wake forest rd. I was taken to my seat which my server was training a young lady. They both were lovely and I ordered the fried cat fish ,cheese grits ,white toast, one egg and a sweet tea. I was checked on a few times and the food was good until I cut into my fish and saw this. I quietly told the training waitess and she grabbed the other waitress both looked disgusted and apologizing . They told the lady who was working the front(manager?) . I hear her talking and she comes to the table. She tells me it's a normal part of the egg. I told her at first I thought it was cheese until it kept being pulled directly from the fish. She shook her and said nope its the egg. She asked did I want my food and I decline because im disgusted. It did not sit well so I googled worm in cooked fish. The photo looks identical. I shown my waitess the two photo and reiterate it was from the fish . She continue to apologize a few times and I tipped her. I checked out with the same lady and shown her the google photo . She offered nothing to fix the problem since "its from the egg". I reluctantly paid and left. I just want to warn people of the risk that can happened and you will be left "odd parts from the egg"

First & last time eating here. Our waitress was incredibly rude, she didn’t look us in the eye while we ordered, never smiled, was not helpful when our 2 year old spilled her water, and tried to get us to order the moment we were seated. She gave us no silverware and no one could be flagged down for silverware even after our food arrived, took awhile to get any. Almost every person here had an attitude, and the busser was so high she was practically passing out on her feet (while also trying to take our plates when we were still eating).

I ordered the 6 oz ribeye with tomatoes, an egg and a side of deviled eggs. I brought a small food scale because I am having surgery in a week and must eat very specific amounts. First of all, they asked how I wanted my steak, I ordered it medium. The steak came flat as a pancake and brown with a TON of fat. Not medium at all. I weighed my steak, it was 3.8 ounces. Meat at restaurants is weighed before cooking and loses up to 25% of its weight after cooking. It should’ve weighed 4.5 ounces. Just to check my scale, I weighed a .5 ounce package of jelly on the table, and the scale was correct. They only gave me 3 halves of deviled eggs, which were watery. My scrambled egg seemed more like 1/2 an egg and it was rubbery and gross.

The rest of the food was pretty nasty too. My daughter wouldn’t eat anything but the fruit. She’s usually a good eater. And their “famous biscuits” are a joke. I’ve had better biscuits out of a can.

When we went to pay, the lady handling the checks ran my husband’s card but as he went to sign the receipt and put the card back in his wallet, she SNATCHED both out of his hands and re-ran the card, claiming the card reader wasn’t working. I couldn’t BELIEVE MY EYES. Who does that? I just hope we aren’t charged 3 times. This place is a rundown racket.

Then, I went to go turn on the car because it was hot. I went back to get my daughter while my husband kept dealing with the broken cardreader, except they had locked the doors so I couldn’t go back in! The hostess finally let me in, but… overall it was a TERRIBLE experience. It feels like a place run by rough ex-convicts to serve rough ex-convicts. Skip this place, you’ll get better food and service at a...

I used to love Big Ed’s and have always recommended it to family and friends. Every time a relative visited Raleigh, I would take them here. That’s how much I used to love this place. But after my recent experience, I will never return.

I brought my family here for a special occasion, hoping to enjoy a great breakfast together. We were a group of 12, including five young children (ages ranging from three months to four years old). When we arrived, we were told the wait would be 30 minutes. We asked if it could be longer, and they assured us it wouldn’t be. So, we waited outside on the street, which was extremely difficult with small children.

After 30 minutes, one of my cousins politely asked how much longer, and they told us to wait a little more. We stayed patient. Another 30 minutes passed, and we asked again. This time, they again told us to wait longer. Finally, after about 25 more minutes, a family member asked once more, explaining that we had small children and were getting very hungry. Instead of a helpful response, the staff member was rude, claiming that someone in our group had been disrespectful earlier which was absolutely not true. It felt like they were deliberately making us wait longer for no reason.

When we finally got a table, the service was painfully slow, and the food was not as good as it used to be. My family, whom I had promised a great experience, was disappointed. I truly don’t understand why we were treated this way, especially as loyal customers who have always supported this restaurant.

I hope the owner sees this because the way customers especially loyal ones are treated matters. Big Ed’s used to be a great place, but after this experience, I can no longer...

Big Ed’s on Falls of the Neuse management and service, ( not servers) is terrible. Went Saturday morning, it was 3 of 4 of us at the restaurant waiting to be seated. The manager Sharon refused to sit us. Stated we had to wait for that other person and if we where seated and they came in they could not seat with us. They would have to be seated alone. So we waited, when the other person arrived we was promptly seated. Our waiter took our order. One hour later we still did not have our food, so we asked to speak with the manager. ( note: 3 tables who was seated after us were eating) . The manager refused to come until , she went to a near by table and asked her directly to speak with us about our food wait. Per the conversation, after showing her the time we were seated, she rudely stated I don’t believe that it’s been an hour, even with the proof and then asked what would we have her to do. This woman, a manager did nothing. Her customer service is terrible, they need to down grade her to a dishwasher with no customer contact. When the food did arrive, was disgusting. The frisbee pancake was hard, the eggs had brown grease floating in them and my city ham was mostly fat. I was told by the others with me that the catfish was good but everything else lacked flavor. The majority of the food was left on the table. We was told the general manager name George Washington, was cooking in the back due to cook shortage. The information for corporate was received from another employe e and will be contacted. If you want to eat at Big Ed’s do not go to the Falls of the Neuse Location. Horrible. PS. Our waiter was great. He...
