I am on the fence between liking Duck Donuts or loving Duck Donuts. My first experiences ordering at Duck Donuts were a little embarrassing. I tried to order a Boston Cream and a jelly-filled only to find out they do not serve any donuts that have fillings. I know the uniqueness of Duck Donuts is the ability to customize a donut anyway you could imagine, but sometimes too many options makes the process semi-confusing. It's not like going to Dunkin Donuts and seeing a plethora of donuts behind a counter and picking from what you can see. You have to choose from a list of options to "build" your donut, but without really being able to see what you're ordering. It's kind of like Chipotle for donuts if you weren't able to see any of the options available to make your burrito and weren't able to watch your burrito being made. I tried to order a "chocolate donut with sprinkles" on my second visit but that didn't fly either. The cashier wanted me to build the donut from the base up to the toppings.
Now that I have been to Duck Donuts a bunch of times I feel like I've gotten the hang of it. I think if I had gone in knowing what to expect it would have made the first few experiences more positive. Once you've been able to make the perfectly crafted donut, it is definitely worth it! Make sure to...
Read moreOn my first trip to duck donuts I had a horrible encounter with a very rude employee. I had walked in and started to take the place in and figure out how it all works. I was there for 2 mins before anyone spoke to me and when they did they told me they were closed. I was surprised because the OPEN sign was on and lit up bright and the door was open. When I mentioned that to the employee who was speaking to me, another employee rudely shouted at me. Apparently this commotion got the attention of the manager who came out and tried her best to smooth it all over. But given the fact that hard words had been spoken, I did not trust that employee to make my food. I asked for and was given the contact info for the owners. I sent them an email concerning what happened. Apparently they really don't care too much about it. I did not receive anything, not ever a general reply. So it is fair to say that my first attempt at Duck Donuts to see what other kind of donuts are available other than my krispy kreme was a miserable failure; therefore it will be my last. So I think this will conclude my attempts to find a different place other than my good ole...
Read moreI heard the advertisement on the radio and decided to make a stop before heading home. Looked at my time and it was 6:50. It was my first time coming to the location on Creedmoor so I made the mistake of turning into the wrong side of the plaza (over by Tropical Smoothie.) I called and said "Hey I know you're about to close soon, but I think I am near you; how close are you to Brigs/Tropical?" Guy on the phone told me they were behind Mcdonalds and assured me I would still be serviced since I was on my wa "We will still be open" I walked in and the girl at the counter whispered to the guy nearest to the door to tell me that the "registers were turned off" (oldest trick in the book) I looked down at my phone and it was 7:01. I'm usually not the type to leave reviews, I am just a believer of not overpromising and underdelivering. Sucks because I've always received great service from the Cary location. From that one experience I personally will probably...
