My dad was looking for a vegan restaurant on New Year’s Day and Pure Vegan Café happened to be about an 11-minute drive from Crabtree Valley Mall, so we decided to try it out. 🙂
We tried a variety of items and here are our opinions:
-Pani Puri – One of my favorites! Loved the crispness, the seasoned potato filling, and it was nice to try the tamarind/mint water dip.
-Dhai Puri – My family sort of expected a salad or at least a bigger portion based on the website photo, but it was still overall pretty good.
-Masala Bowl – Filling, slightly spicy, but a bit lackluster with flavor. May try the vindaloo bowl next time to see if it’s more flavorful.
-Hot Dog with Chili – The vegan hotdog was pretty good! The cashew nacho cheeze was so-so, but the vegan chili sauce was OUTSTANDING. Probably the best vegan chili we’ve tried thus far!
-Mac and Cheeze – Texture was nice and pretty creamy! Flavor was a bit so-so, but this is admittedly the best vegan mac ‘n cheese we’ve tried in a restaurant, in comparison with others.
-Banana Toast Crunch – I really enjoyed this one! Great for a sweet breakfast, or as a dessert.
-Overnight Oats – The goji berries and strawberries in this were fresh and delicious! The oats were overall a little soggy and watery, but I wonder if that’s because of the juice released by the fruits over time. We did admittedly consume this later in the day.
-Mango Lassi – Smaller portion in a cup, and I seemed to taste more spices than I usually do compared to past mango lassis I’ve tasted. There seemed to be an iron-like aftertaste, which was interesting.
Overall, we had a pretty good experience and would definitely consider returning to try other items on the menu! Staff was very kind and welcoming, and the baked goods in the display case looked beautiful and appetizing. Thank you for all the great plant-based (and...
Read moreI have been a unadulterated pure Meat Eater since I've had teeth in my mouth! But since God has healed my heart, I've lost 30 pounds and found ways to also heal my Body! My Doctor recommended that we watch Game Changers and Forks Over Knives, and it was Eye Opening! I'm not saying that we've gone Cold Turkey (for a lack of a better word)!
But I am saying that we've done our best to choose wisely this week. Today on Date Night we found Pure Vegan Café - Juicery & Eatery Durham. And this by far was the best Non-Chicken Chicken Sandwich, just as good as any meat filled chicken sandwich that I've had. My sandwich was so flavorful, I had to stop the owner Neha and ask her if it was real Bacon 🥓 that was on my Chicken sandwich. I think I purposely blocked out what her answer was, but I'm telling you it was crispy and had a Great Flavor!
The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. She allowed me to ask questions without judgements.
I am an author and very opinionated! And I always speak my mind. I'm also a creature of habit, always eating the same things at the places that I frequent. I'm not adventurous and normally don't try new things... But if we could eat less harmful meats that are filled with things that aren't natural and contribute to our own ailments and not have to sacrifice taste, would you?!?
I absolutely loved my first meal from Pure Vegan Café Durham, and we plan to definitely return! Thank you for making it easier for us Meat-eaters to have great tasting options and possibly make...
Read moreI am absolutely bursting with joy over my discovery of Pure Vegan Cafe. This isn't just a place to eat—it's an experience! I fell so completely in love with the vibe, the food, and the incredible people that I found myself going back for three consecutive days during my visit. It truly feels like a labor of love, and you can taste it in every single bite. The atmosphere is a whole vibe in itself. The moment you walk in, you're wrapped in a sense of calm and beauty. It's clean, lovely, and so welcoming that you just want to stay and soak it all in. And oh, the food! Everything is simply delicious, fantastic, and a testament to how incredible plant-based cuisine can be. The value is unbelievable—I was able to get a fulfilling, mouthwatering meal for just $10-$20 each time. The vegan "chicken" sandwich with those perfect fries was a highlight. And let's not forget the oatmeal bowl—it was a pure, nourishing bowl of comfort. The cheesecakes are beyond divine; they are a work of art! The Mango and Biscoff Cookie Cheesecakes were nothing short of a revelation. Rich, creamy, and heavenly, they are without a doubt some of the most perfect desserts I've ever had. The wonderful customer service truly shines here, making the entire experience a dream. Every detail at Pure Vegan Cafe is handled with care and passion, and it makes all the difference. This place is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates truly amazing food and a lovely, positive...
