Disappointed with Cuban Sandwich. The pork was dried out. After thinking about the presentation, almost all the cheese was squeezed onto the paper when I opened the wrapper. I love Cuban Sandwiches and eaten them all over place. Sandwiches vary but they had most the ingredients right but SO dry. The owner/manager came by and asked how it was. I told him it was dry. He simply stated that the pork is made the same way every day. Apparently, his cooks can't accidentally over cook anything, leave thing uncovered for too long, etc. By his words and inaction to check the kitchen, he believed it was perfect and it was my taste buds that were out of whack.. When he brought the check, he said he knocked 10% off. When I looked, it said Veteran Discount. I am a Vet so good to see. Of course, since I was already put off by his attitude, I thank him for the vet discount but there wasn't anything discount for the food being poorly made. Just laughed it off but made the point
BTY, the great news about this place, Meals include a standard soft drink with most meals (check to make it hasn't changed). It great to order a $13 meal and pay $13 that plus tax & tip. It's no fun to order a $13 meal and the check is $15 to $16 plus tax & tip because you had glass of iced tea.
It was only one meal and they have a varied menu that looks great. If I don't go back, it will be because the owners attitude that the customers are wrong and his...
Read moreWow! We had never tried this gem until today. We shared a Cuban sandwich and a Chimi burger and ordered one with fries and one with sweet potato fries.,
The Cuban rocked. Great flavor combinations. The pulled pork was a wee bit dry, but not a turn off given the rest of the sandwich.
The sweet potato fries were very good. Crispy, fried and a touch of salt. Next time I will order them and ask for a shake of cayenne pepper or other spice. I like sweet potatoes with a little heat to compliment the natural sweetness of the tuber.
The burger was perfectly cooked. The presentation, extraordinary. That being said, I did not enjoy the combo of flavors. My other half loved the burger so it’s a matter of personal taste.
Bottom line. We plan to go back. The exemplary service, tastiness of the food and attention to detail were worth going back. If you like to eat large meals, here you go. Neither of us could finish everything.
Looking forward to...
Read moreFalls River Cafe has done nothing but impress me in the two visits I've had so far.
On my first visit I went in for breakfast. The server at the front counter was very welcoming and helped me decide what to order. For breakfast there are many options but the Dominican dishes caught my eye. I ordered the Ultimate Dominican Breakfast and was blown away. When it came to picking the starch portion of the dish the waiter told me that traditionally in the Dominican Republic they would have mashed plantains with their breakfast, and that's all I needed to hear. The food came out promptly and was cooked perfectly.
The next day I realized I had forgotten to get a takeout menu and decided I'd return for lunch. For lunch I had the chimi burger. A two patty burger on a steamed hoagie roll with tomato, shredded lettuce, and a sweet pink sauce.
The food and service was great and I can't...
