We had a long day of traveling and wanted to get a good meal in before heading to our destination. Found this place on Google and it was really close to the airport, it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I got a large plate of oxtails, rice & peas, & cabbage. Typically people skimp you on the oxtails which is why i got a large. IT WAS SO MUCH FOOD. The oxtails were amazing, rice and peas were great, & the cabbage was good with no extra seasoning. Personally, i tend to add salt to everything but i really did not need nothing AT ALL! Had some for dinner & still had a serving left! I will stop by this place every chance i get.

I was so happy to find a GK in Raleigh as I am from Queens,NY. Landed and drove straight to the spot before checking into my hotel. Everything looked good. I ordered a large portion of jerk chicken. Flavorful rice, cabbage was great and this is someone who doesn’t like cabbage. The jerk chicken itself was good, could be a lil spicier but maybe coz the locals can’t handle it. The plantains were perfect. Ask for jerk sauce on the side and the sauce had some kick. For $20, portions are good. Friendly staff and clean place. 🇯🇲 ❤️

Visited on Easter 🐣 Sunday as a last minute option while out. The line was short, the staff were friendly and the food was delicious. I ordered a small stewed chicken meal and the portion was enough to make 2 portions for me. I typically have to trek to Durham as that was the only option before this location. I’m extremely happy for this conveniently located franchise. I plan to return at a future date Unika B. & Co.

My colleagues and I decided to come here today (5/5/25) since another Jamaican spot in RTP was unfortunately closed. In fact, we used to frequent the Durham GK location before it shut down as one of our favorites, so we were hoping this location would offer a similar experience. Upon arrival, I started to order three large white meat jerk chicken plates but scaled back to just one lunch special once the server advised only, they only offer chicken in dark meat. Unfortunately, this location doesn't offer white meat jerk chicken, which was disappointing. Customer service was decent — we were greeted upon arrival — but upon checkout, the same lady came across as somewhat not very personable. The food sadly did not meet expectations. The jerk chicken was tasteless and again only available in dark meat. The sauce provided on the side was extremely spicy, unlike before when it had a more flavorful, mild taste. Surprisingly, the spinach rice was overcooked and lacked flavor. The plantains were rubbery with an odd aftertaste and the cabbage was bland. My colleague ordered the curry chicken with the same sides and noted that the curry tasted like it was heavily dusted with spicy curry powder rather than properly cooked into the dish. I had high hopes that this meal would be on par with the food we’ve enjoyed @ the many GK in NYC or even at the old Durham GK location. Instead, it reminded me more of the Raleigh location, which also didn’t impress. As a franchise, I expected a certain standard to be upheld across all branches. Foodies, please don’t let my review completely deter you from trying this GK location for yourself — the portion sizes were fair — but for us, this go round, the food...

I recently visited golden crust with hopes of enjoying a satisfying meal, but unfortunately, the experience fell a bit short. While nothing was outright terrible, the overall impression was one of mediocrity. The oxtail and jerk chicken was cooked adequately, but it lacked seasoning and depth of flavor, the chicken was also dry and they had no white meat at the time of my visit. It felt like it had potential, but somewhere along the way, the execution missed the mark. The side dish, cabbage was terrible in my opinion and very garlicky.

Service was polite but one of the workers seemed annoyed with the other because in lieu of them being out of white meat he gave an extra piece of dark meat. She began speaking in another language to let him know her displeasure.

In short, golden crust isn’t a place I’d rush back to, but it might be worth a visit if you’re in the area and not overly particular about your dining experience. With a few improvements, it could certainly rise above...

Went here a couple of weeks ago….the best thing I had was the patties. The jerk chicken Pattie was good. I also ordered curry chicken & curry shrimp. The curry chicken was very spicy & salty! It was not good at all. You can’t substitute sides. Most places will substitute your side & you pay a dollar or 2 more….not this place. You have to buy a whole new side. In addition to that, I wanted to try their callaloo to see if it resembled home….but the guy told me it’s a breakfast item & they didn’t have any, even though it was listed on the board. If you’re not serving it, then remove the item off the board. Especially since you don’t open during breakfast hours! The customer service needs major improvement already & it just opened a month or 2 ago.

The food is...
