Came here for a birthday and was pleasantly surprised to find this place. Staff was friendly and very helpful asking for preferences and allergies for food prep. Ordered a Philly roll and the shrimp tempura roll as a app and it was decent. Had a bit too much rice as a wrap but still tasted fresh and delicious. Split a Banzai meal for the hibachi for the $5 upcharge and was well worth it. There was more than enough food that we ended up taking a near full box home. Rice was great and was fried with eggs and soy sauce and garlic butter giving it a great flavorful taste. Veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. Shrimp was cooked with garlic butter and lemon and were on point. Really great taste. Steak ordered medium well was cooked perfectly and paired perfectly with the ginger sauce they offer. It was a NY Strip cut. Chef took care to remove the fat caps so the piece were not chewy at all. Chicken was juicy and well seasoned. Lastly the staff offered a rainbow sherbet for the birthday guests. It was a nice treat to freshen the plate as it was a lemon and orange flavor. Overall it was a great meal and this is easily my new fav spot for hibachi.

We have been going here for ages, consistently good food and entertainment as well , since covid though the "shows" have been shortened to make everything quicker, we were paying the bill and getting a box minutes after being served our food. Still I can't complain to much, in this environment they are still keeping staff and mostly the standards up. Book in advance, you may not need it but when khanki gets busy it gets BUSY. Anyone with a fear of fire should stay away as there are flashes of it all over during your meal. If you don't like the veg you can ask for double rice instead of those pesky healthy things. We will be back Edit: it's still a great place to visit but honestly the quality has dropped a little , still not bad but for the price increases its pushing it. Edit 2 may 24: things have improved a lot , the steak was beautiful, we will be back.

Disgusting. Got the sushi and sashimi dinner which allows for chef’s choice. I’ve never in my life had a problem with chef’s choice options, I love all sushi! What I got was vile. Old and suspicious. I was scared to even eat it but I tried to stay positive and ate half and threw the rest away. Of the chef’s choice nigiri, they were supposed to give me 9 pieces. Three pieces were BOILED OCTOPUS, one was a piece of egg on rice, another was imitation crab… are you kidding? Nothing was fresh, the salmon and tuna looked horrifying. Still, I tried it all because I’m not picky but it was awful and concerning. The “tuna rolls” had a grey piece of fish in there and were about the size of my pinky. I’ve never EVER thrown away food from a restaurant in my life…. and yet I spent $35 to throw away these “dishes”.

On 02/22/20 I took my boyfriend to Kanki on Wake Forest Rd. Raleigh around 4pm for his birthday dinner 💗 I wanted him to have a good meal and experience for his birthday... so when we got there we had to wait for a table so we went to the bar and had a drink it was good vibes we were having fun, then we got called for our table and had an awesome cook whom was entertaining and made his 36 out of rice for his birthday, I had previously set up for them to bring him his birthday brownie and icecream instead of the sherbert that they give because I wanted it to be special, almost as soon as the cook leaves a guy comes over and started cleaning the grill I remember thinking why is he cleaning the grill as were sitting here eating no sooner I thought that he splashed the juices from the grill up on my chest on my brand new white sweater going through to my chest and I felt the burning sensation so me not wanting to cause a scene I excused myself to the bathroom, when I went in and took my sweater off my chest was red and was already starting to blister... thank God I had a cami underneath my sweater because my sweater was ruined and my chest was burning so I went back out to the table feeling very exposed and asked for something to help with the burning and pain when the manager came over she said I will see what I can do for you, I was waiting and waiting still not eating just asking for some burn cream and fanning my chest, the people sitting at the table was more concerned than the restaurant's Staff/Management the guy that took our order then comes over and sits down the checks and was like they took care of yours... I'm like I need burn cream so my boyfriend gets up and goes to look for the manager who was completely untrained on how to handle a serious situation apparently and says do you have some burn cream or antiseptic or something she is in pain... so she gets this spray and hemorrhoid cream and comes to me I spray my chest down and questioning the hemorrhoid cream she responds we deal with a lot of burns here so I put that on as well she immediately leaves again... sitting there for her or somebody to come back and talk to me for about 10 minutes I looked at my boyfriend and said I'm ready to go it's burning again and I wanted to get some aloe burn cream on it, he grabbed a card on the way out and we left... ruining the rest of our celebration day now because I wasn't up to doing anything else the entire birthday was RUINED!!!! My chest was burnt and blistered, my sweater ruined and the only thing I was feeling was how horribly the situation was handled. I have been a GM for 20 year's and have received countless training on how to handle different kinds of emergency training for staff as well as customers and I honestly just couldn't believe what had just taken place... So a little after getting home we had went on the website and made sure that corporate was aware of the situation and expressed our concerns for the lack of training... A woman called me 2 days later at 9pm when I was already going to bed because I get up for work at 330am and asked me how my burns were I responded that they were doing much better then she goes into this questioning mode and was like wellll they took care of your bill 🤦♀️🤦♀️ and she offered me dry cleaning, she told me to go have my sweater dry cleaned and bring them the bill and they would take care of it was only on the phone for 2 minutes and 22 seconds that's how much they cared , there was no I'm so sorry we ruined your entire experience and birthday, what can we do to make it up to you? That's how I was trained I'm not sure what kind of people you have that expressed no concern but it's definitely not okay... I'm literally disgusted and distressed by this because of the way it was handled, I know accidents happen and I handled it with grace just really wish Kanki would've done the same so I wouldn't still be stressed about it a...

POV: I was debating about posting but I had a family member recently visit from out of town and told me how horrible her experience was at this location so I will share my experience as well. This used to be my FAVORITE location to eat. My family and I would come to this location all the time as well as I would go by myself or with a smaller crowd and eat at the bar. My review is based on the take out experience…. I’ve had multiple issues but this last one took the cake. I placed an order online and when I picked it up there were several younger staff members just standing around and there were several people waiting to pick up orders. When she finally asked what I needed they said it wasn’t ready when I ordered it before they opened (took almost 30 extra min for my food). I ordered a side of rice, a few salads and what I thought was vegetables and onions. So when my order came out I was on the phone talking and said to the person on the phone I would call them back because I think they gave me the wrong order. The young girl immediately got defensive and wanted to go back and forth with me about my order. So I explained what I ordered and she said that’s something I need to call and request and I offered my apologies bc I didn’t know that and asked if I could do that now. She rolls her eyes and proceeds to snatch the food from my hands and I told her I only needed to return the veggies not the rest and she said it doesn’t work like that. So after we both said a few words her manager came over and said I would need to reorder it online since that’s where the order was originally placed. That made no sense because I was standing there. I asked if she could kindly refund me and not worry about it and she said sure but in the future I NEED TO BE SURE I PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT I ORDER BECAUSE I AM WASTING FOOD. I told her if it was a problem don’t refund me and I will take the food and order at a different location. I asked if there was a manager over her to speak with about how rude she and the staff were and she said no she’s the manager and if I call I would still speak with her. I only remember her name starts with a C. When I left a woman came out behind me and said she was canceling her order because of how rude the lady was to me. I will never return to this location….. I will drive the extra miles to the one on Glenwood. Again this was my point of view and how I...

I’m not one to leave reviews but I dined here for hibachi tonight and I am completely appalled at my experience. I took my fiancé here for a date night because i love hibachi restaurants. I am new to NC and this was my first time at Kanki. I had reservations at 4pm, walked in exactly at 4 and still waited to be seated…once at our table we waited about 20 mins to even see our waitress. She was nice, we ordered, got our drinks/soup/salad, then after that we didn’t see anyone for another 30 minutes. The place was absolutely freezing and our entire table was complaining about the wait and how cold it was. The cook didn’t come until probably 5:15 so we had been there well over an hour without our food even started yet. The cook was nice did a good show, but the food was just tasteless and my fiancée got such a small amount of chicken. I just had the veggie dinner but there was no flavor, even the rice which is normally my favorite part. I heard the couple next to us talking about how their food was not good. Ok, so whatever, not to our liking - fine. Not going to complain, still going to leave 20% tip. We waited forever again for the bill and to-go boxes, and it was a male staff member who took care of all the checks for our table. Didn’t even see our waitress again. I decided to pay with cash and used a 100 dollar bill. He returned with my change, and I left 20% for tip, and we left. When I get home, I noticed I had about 6 missed calls from 2 different numbers, no voicemail. Then another call pops up so I answer and it’s the restaurant- they had my number from my reservation. Some lady asks me if I just dined there (I was worried maybe I left something there?) nope, she accused me of walking out on my entire bill and only leaving 11 dollars. I said that was the tip, which was 20% and honestly generous considering the service. I explained I paid cash, my bill was 55 and I gave the guy 100, got change back, left the tip and went home. I could not believe I was getting called about this, how unprofessional and not even an apology!!! Never in my life have I had something like this happen to me. Thanks Kanki for a horrible experience! Do not dine here, find a better place with better food and...
