First time here after having this place on my list for a long time.
I wanted to go inside to place my order as newbie however inside is closed to delivery and call in. I felt a bit of pressure trying to place my first order at the drive thru however since I'd seen the online menu I decided order.
I ordered the surf and turf burrito which comes with steak, shrimp, rice, cabbage, fries, and chipotle mayo. I asked the employee to confirm the ingredients at the drive through since the menu board doesn't say. I double checked if there was Pico de gallo because I don't like it. The employee confirmed it was on there so I told them to remove the Pico and add onions and cilantro. I also added a side of queso.~$15
The drive thu was slow but I wasn't surprised considering the kind of food we were ordering. I get to the window and wait a few minutes while the employee at the window talks to an employee that appears to be leaving.
I receive my food and realize there are no chips. I ask for chips which wass another $2. Based on other reviews and no mention of just a chip order online I thought they gave you a few with the order. Oh well.
I'm super excited because this burrito is huge. The first few bits were dry tortilla. It's like it hadn't been steamed or heated at all. Chubbys used to have fresh made tortillas and admittedly I was hoping for that here. Finally get past the tortilla and I don't see fries or rice, no biggie sometimes things aren't as evenly spread as you'd hope. Turns out there were no fries and no rice. The only thing really in the burrito was chipotle mayo. It seems like they tossed the steak in it before putting it on the burrito as every piece was coated. I didn't taste anything other than chipotle mayo so I can't tell you how it tasted.
I called later to let them know about the missing rice and fries. The person who answer verified that rice was included but not fries. This is different from what I was told at the drive thru and what the online menu on their site says. Before getting off the phone the employee seemed to reluctantly offer me a credit. I'm not sure if I'll be back for my replacement item. This was a pretty bad first time. Maybe it was just a bad day. I don't know if I'll try again...
Read moreLos Cuates So-Cal Food - Drive-Thru 5 Stars! Authentic SoCal Flavors and Speedy Service - The Carne Asada Burrito is a MUST! Los Cuates is my absolute go-to in Raleigh for a genuine taste of Southern California Mexican food, and their drive-thru is a lifesaver for quick and delicious meals. The menu is packed with all the SoCal staples you crave, from fantastic fish tacos to their famous California burrito. But let me tell you about the Carne Asada Burrito. This is where it's at if you're looking for authentic Mexican flavor. The grilled steak is so flavorful and tender, and when you add their red spicy salsa and that creamy avocado green salsa, it's an absolute flavor explosion! Seriously, if you appreciate true, no-frills Mexican taste, this burrito with those salsas is a must-try. It's packed with meat and fresh pico de gallo, just like you'd find in San Diego – no unnecessary rice or beans taking up space. Beyond the incredible carne asada burrito, their fish tacos are perfectly crispy, and the California burrito with those glorious fries inside is a classic for a reason. The ingredients always taste fresh, and the flavors are spot on. They even have those addictive spicy carrots! The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and the drive-thru service is consistently fast and friendly. Can't-miss items: Carne Asada Burrito with the red spicy salsa and avocado green salsa: Seriously, try it! Fish Tacos: Crispy fried perfection in a soft corn tortilla. California Burrito (or Carolina Burrito): A unique and satisfying combination of steak, fries, and more. Queso Tacos Birria: Still on my list to try, but they look incredible! For anyone in Raleigh craving real Southern California Mexican food and needing a quick and satisfying meal, Los Cuates Drive-Thru is the answer. The carne asada burrito with those salsas alone is worth the trip! Highly, highly...
Read moreThousand of sailors can attest, you get scooped up from all over the country, the drop you off in San Diego and then the rumblings begin. Santana's, Alberta's, no matter your personal favorite , everyone had their go to burrito spot in Southern California! And your time end there and then what? You can't forget that level and style of food!!
I tried to cope the best I could. I started off by finding someone to overnight me some on dry ice. But it was so expensive and such a big ask I had to forego that option and look for substitutes. I tried them all. Carburrito, Cosmic Cantina, Flying Burrito, Baja Burrito not to mention the chains. Some good food af these places but not the same!!
Then one day I see a Facebook post about places and this one being mentioned as southern California style burritos. I was there for lunch the next day. And the next day and the next day. For months on end I'd pop in for a California Burrito or Carne asada burrito. After months of going and having for lunch or dinner I was finally able to venture out in menu and try out other items. Everything amazing, everything legit. I don't miss Southern California Mexican food because I now have it!! And I'm so so thankful!!
I haven't tried their breakfast burrito yet but I really want to soon. I'm missing that aspect still but expect the...
