I've been trying every bakery to find the best cannolis in the area. Walked into this bakery and one young woman working there said hello with a smile and continued to prepare someone's order. Another young woman was preparing another order. I stood there for what seemed like 10 minutes without anyone saying I'll be with you. I finally asked if I could order something to go. The young woman was very nice and got my order. The cannolis are pre-filled which is already a sign that they will not be great. I ordered a few and a cream puff. I wanted a lobster tail but they didn't have any. I took everything home, ate two bites of the cream puff and couldn't eat the rest as it was bland and the outer coating was soft, weird and cold instead of flaky. The cannolis were also the worst I've had - the shell was stale and flavorless and the filling tasted like nothing. Maybe they were having an off day? There were plenty of elderly people sitting and having lunch. Maybe lunch food is better but I'm not going back. Btw, Rispoli's in Emerson and Gencarelli's in Wayne have awesome cannolis. They fill them to order. Lobster tail at Gencarelli's has good filling but shell is just ok. Lobster tail at Carlos bakery in Hoboken was amazing. Lobster tail at Rispoli’s Hawthorne was the best, their cannolis were also...
Read moreMy son and I visited this amazing cafe in the fall of 2023, and I've wanted to come back ever since. Usually everything is closed in Ramsey on Sundays, but what an incredible stroke of luck for us that this cafe was open on Easter Sunday! I ordered their "Egg in the Basket" while my husband ordered fried egg on a brioche, with coffee and Earl Grey tea for accompaniment. The Egg in the Basket was so skilfully cooked that at first my husband had trouble believing there was an egg inside what looked like a nicely toasted piece of bread :-). When I bit into it, the yoke ran out - what perfection! I love soft cooked eggs! While our breakfast was being prepared in the kitchen, I scanned their massive selection of desserts and decided on two items: Treccina Crema e Noci and Tartufo el Cioccolato. They were both delightful but the chocolate cream puff was definitely the champion! Even though there was a sign "No Table Service Today" - everything was handed out in take-out boxes - the waiting staff still brought our coffee and tea to the table, and later on gave us metal utensils. Although it was quite busy, the customers always received immediate attention from the little battalion of staff behind the counter. We will definitely come back to try more items, and pack home some of...
Read moreI visited this cake shop to pick up a vaniila & chocolate cake all the way from Connecticut. It was my husband's birthday and all of our guests enjoyed this cake and a few days later, I am still savoring every bit that's leftover. When I went to this bakery the first time, the girl at the counter tipped the cake box over and the happy birthday part got erased from the cake top (it was essentially ruined)! On my way back, the cake was sliding all over the box since I got a small cake and the cake box was bigger. As a result, the edges of the cake were getting ruined as well from all the movement. Upon reaching my destination, I happened to open the cake box to check the cake top and my gut intuition was right - it did touch the top of the cake box and the "happy birthday" was ruined. Anyway, I called the bakery and they were very apologetic and asked me to come back so I can get a fresh one. When I went back, the owner was very apologetic and they had a new cake with my husband's name on it, all ready to go. The staff even put the cake box in a bigger cardboard box so that it made it to Connecticut safely. Honestly, the customer service was beyond words, the cake tasted superb and the price wasn't too bad either!!! I would recommend this...
