The hostess was a pleasure to talk to when we were greeted ans seated. Our waitress speaks a whole other meaning. She was rather quick getting our drinks for the table. We couldn't understand when she brought two drinks for the same person at one time. When asked about it the waitress stated, "this is for his refill of the drink he ordered". This didn't make any sense since all of our drinks were unlimited. We order some potatoe skins with ranch for it. The waitress kept coughing and of courses stepped back to cover her coughing. I aksed if she was okay, the waitress stated her asthma was acting up. Our oder of the potatoes arrived very shortly but no with ranch. I asked for some ranch and the waitress stated, right away she'll get it. Another waitress brought out another side dish which we ordered. I asked her for a some ranch. The waitress left our table only to return right away with our ranch. The potatoe skins were burnt to a crisp and dry, thank goodness we had the ranch dresseing. When our meal finally arrived, we noticed a few things off. My mushrooms that were the toppings of my burger were cold and the burger had NO flavor to it. The ashu dip for my son's girlfriend sandwich was also cold and it tasted like water with NO flavor. My son's girlfriend asked for another bowl of the dip and side of ranch, the waitress agreed. We waited for approximately three minutes she still hadn't. Just as I was about to inquire about our requested items that the waitress appeared with just the dip. We also had to search or wait for the waitress to come to our table so we could get our drinks refilled. When it came time to pay our bills, which we prior instructed the waitress the bills were to be separated. My son went to pay the bill and he was rudely informed by our waitress that he was to go back to the table and that way both bills could be paid at the same time. My son came back to the table and informed what was passed onto him. While I was finishing up my meal and drink, the waitress came to the table and tried to reach to collect the bill tray that was at this point sitting right in front of me. I had to tell her that it wasn't ready. She then was seen storming away. The waitress later returned and collected our payment and returned rather quickly, faster then the service we received. For a really bad service and with the waitress attitude, no tip was given by either parties. I usually give a ten percent tip of the bill. I was also going to purchase the salt seasoning rub they were selling for $6.95 by the door but I refused to purchase this. For this being my first time experience to visit this restaurant/ franchise, i will have to say this might be my last time. This was the worst service and bad tasting food I have to...
Read moreFirst time visitor and boy how disappointing I am! Arrived mid-afternoon and was looking forward to a nice quiet lunch (not too crowded was a plus; as was getting seated promptly). Unfortunately things went downhill fast from there. My friend ordered a Pepsi which came to the table flat. It took 2 people to review and decide she needed a new Pepsi- also flat. We were told the box was changed out yet a) there were No (maybe 3 bubbles) visible and upon tasting, yep, flat. Another glass or another drink was not offered. They did compensate by not charging for the drinks in the end. Unfortunately it didn't stop there. I ordered the pork sliders and they were very dry and barely warm. The bun was nicely toasted however. Got some marginal meat pieces, but will allow it happens. While eating I ordered fish & chips to go. Upon heating up at home discovered a) the chips were not cooked; only warmed over. They had that defrosted frozen taste and were not browned AT ALL. The fish looked good - nice large pieces- yet despite the looks it, too, tasted as tho the batter had been defrosted and warmed but not cooked. The cole slaw was dry and had no flavor what so ever.
Brookfields was about to become my favorite stop going up and down Highway 50 - easy access, diner style restaurant, large and noise volume wasn't too bad,. Same with the service. Passable and almost above average. Surprised to see so many high ratings. Is this under new management? Or was management away so the cats played? Greatly disappointed!! Hope this was a one off...
Read moreMy co-worker at the time mentioned that she loved this place, so we decided to give it a try. However, it wasn’t the best experience. Recently, my husband and I wanted to give it another shot since it had been 10 years, and this was a different location. The atmosphere was very cozy, but the service was mixed. The lady who assisted us was friendly and extremely fast, which we appreciated. However, her lotion or perfume had a very strong scent. It wasnt like she was sitting next table and eating food so wasnt that a big problem (Personally, I prefer not to have overpowering fragrances in a restaurant, as it can affect the dining experience ) And as we walked out, there were two staff members standing and chatting at the check-in desk (or booth). They didn’t acknowledge us or say anything, which felt inattentive and unwelcoming.. The pancakes were great, but the chicken-fried steak was just okay. While the outside was very crispy, the meat itself was tough to chew rather than juicy and tender. The flavor and gravy were nice, but the texture made it difficult to enjoy. Onion Rings were a but over cooked. (I love dipping my onion rings to ranch and ketchup both. People need to try) My husband ordered the Chorizo Benedict, but there was an unusual scent or taste—almost floral. We assume it was from a specific herb or seasoning used in the dish. Unfortunately, he didn’t enjoy.. Overall, it was okay. Want to try other...
