I was directed to customer area to check out because one of the item that I purchased needs to be clear from security. I didn't mind that. They normally asked if I have some kind of discount. The person at this counter did not ask me at that time. But I asked if I got a discount for the veteran. I showed my id and the vet card. She looked at it and handed it over to her coworker. And he said that that was an old card. He would honor at this time. The card was less than one year old.
I don't get upset that easily. But when people question me about me being a veteran, I am not happy. Perhaps, only a certain kind of people can be a veteran in his mind? Perhaps, only a certain kind of veterans are honored at this home depot. I HOPE NOT.
The following is an addition that I had experienced with this Home Depot. First, I had a countertop replacement project. The representative was very helpful throughout the process to the end. I'm pretty happy with that. So I went back for another project to replace a front door. First, two representatives were sitting at the desk on the phone ignore my presence. I over heard one conversation. It seemed to be personal phone call. I had to leave at that time. I went back another time and got a little help from a young man. I decided to come back another time before I put in the order.
I went back three more times. No one was at the desk. I went to customer service and was told to go back there. And they would dispatch someone to meet me there. I waited and waited. No one showed up. I even went back and forth a couple times to customer service. They kept saying that someone would meet me there. Finally, they said that the person didn't show up to work.
I gave up on home depot for this project and went to a door company near my work. My door was replaced in three weeks. I was happy with that.
Then the situation about discount with customer service that I mentioned earlier happened.
I still use this home depot because it's closer to my house. But I only go when Lowe's doesn't have what I need.
I ordered a security door online about a month ago. It was a good experience. An older customer service rep helped with everything. There was another younger rep who didn't seem to be happy to help at all. I'm sorry. It seems that many employees of this store are not happy employees.
I still go to this place from time to time. I still get my veteran discount. I still get the greety attitude.
I was looking for another project to replace a patio door. I didn't even bother to go to home depot. A glass company just beat home depot. The order was put in. And they honestly told me that it is going to take time since the supplies are low. They have more projects now than they ever had before. I still put the order any way. Here's another loss for home depot.
So Home Depot, you are my secondary now. I go to other places first before...
Read moreSoooo.. while I’m not saying Home Depot knowingly sold my husband a defective product, I’m just saying’… My husband purchased a Dewalt generator for those “in case “ situations. By the time he returned home with it, the power had been restored. Because we most likely would have an electrical outage at some point, we kept the generator never having used it. Fast forward to the next yr when there was indeed an outage, my husband brought out the generator only to find that it did not work. We fully understand that it had been over a yr and didn’t even think to ask Home Depot for a return, and instead contacted the manufacturer Dewalt directly. After all, the generator had a 3 yr warranty, so we figured we’d ask for the defective unit to be repaired by the manufacturer. First of all, I thought Dewalt was a legit company, but apparently we were wrong. It took several days to get a “list” of authorized warranty companies. Once we received the list, it turned out that the two locations closest to us were no longer in business and the third was a hr drive from us. My husband brought the defective generator to the repair company, who after several days stated that Dewalt had decided to not to honor their warranty and stated that we could just pay to fix it by them. My husband contacted Dewalt and their customer service rep was barely competent, but after explaining the situation, stated they would contact the repair company and authorize repairs. We were relieved, or so we thought… my husband brought the generator to the shop in December of 2024, it’s now June…. I reached out to Home Depot hoping I could speak with the manager, and the person who answered, stated she wouldn’t get the manager until she knew the reason. I explained the situation and asked if the manager had any contacts at Dewalt that they could reach out to to help expedite this repair. Having worked in retail in the past, I figured there might be a rep they could help me contact. I was put on hold and someone else answered. I again explained the situation, and was curtly told that they would look and see if they could get me a contact number for Dewalt. He then put me on “hold” and hung up on me. Hoping that he had mistakenly hung up, I called back and they would not answer their phone. I was pretty disappointed in their customer service and the fact that they were the store that had sold us this defective generator. Lessons learned not to trust the quality of Home...
Read moreI NEVER commplain. I am the kind of person who has so much empathy and understanding for people and understand when stores are busy or someone may be having a rough day. I normally shrug things off. Especially because i could not live with someone getting reprimanded because of me saying something. However today was such a bad experience. I asked for assistance moving heavy pots into two carts at the garden center. The woman at the register was doing her best and she seemed to be alone and had a long line. The machine was not taking card btw, only cash.... i waited over 15 minutes...in this heat btw. And no one came. One male younger worker came, looked around, and left again. I went after him to ask for help and he was talking to other workers inside the store outside the garden center. At this point i had already carried the heavy pots into the two carts. Which i normally dont ask for help but today i was wearing a dress and I had to. I told him i needed help taking the carts to the inside registers because of the cash only thing. As we continued walking, he turned around and asked me "where are we taking these" and i repeated, to check out inside.... once at the registers i asked if someone was going to help me take them to my car, he said oh yea someone will. Another worker said why dont you stay if you know shell need help to which he replied they need me somewhere else and theres only one of me. May i remind you he was talking to co workers.... he did leave and then when i was Checking out i asked again if someone would help me and the workers talked to eachother as if deciding who would help until one worker told the other that there was a person outside to help. And again, im pulling both carts by myself outside until someone finally was helpful. Josh was outside helping me pull the carts and he told me "i got you". He told me to pull my car up and loaded all the heavy pots even asking if it was okay to place them in the backseat knowing it may get dirty. I was telling him about what happened and how he was the only one that had been helpful. He apologized for my bad experience and said he was there to help. Thank you Josh for being a great worker and offering to help by actually doing your job and being so nice about it also. So sad this makes me not want to come here anymore even if i have the credit card. I feel embarrassed just writing this...
