Review for The Fish Company
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Fish Company, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the inviting atmosphere set a wonderful tone for the evening. The decor was a delightful blend of nautical themes and modern touches, creating a warm and welcoming vibe that immediately made us feel at home.
We decided to start with the "Pick Two," which allowed us to sample both the beer-battered cod and the fried shrimp. The beer-battered cod was expertly cooked; it had a light and crispy batter that encased perfectly tender fish đ â¤ď¸. Each bite melted in our mouths, and the flavor was simply fantastic. The fried shrimp were equally impressiveâsucculent and juicy, with just the right amount of seasoning to elevate them without overpowering the natural sweetness of the shrimp. Both dishes came with a side of tangy tartar sauce that paired beautifully with the seafood.
For our main course, we couldn't resist ordering the crab-crusted grouper, which is a house specialty. When it arrived, I was immediately taken by the presentationâthe grouper was topped generously with a seasoned crab blend, baked until golden brown, and drizzled with a luscious key lime butter. The combination of flavors was divine! The crab was fresh and flavorful, and the key lime butter added a zesty twist that brought everything together. The dish was served alongside an assortment of fresh, vibrant vegetables and a generous helping of Morada rice, which was fluffy and aromatic.
Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was also remarkable. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. He was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. It was clear that the staff genuinely cared about providing a top-notch dining experience.
The Fish Company exceeded my expectations in every way. With delicious seafood, exceptional service, and a charming atmosphere, it's a perfect spot for a special night out or a casual meal with friends. If you love seafood, you absolutely must visit this place. I can't wait to go back and explore more...
Read moreThis was our first time back since Covid. The two â hostessesâ ( I will use that term loosely) had no personality or customer services skills. No one greeted us, they never smiled. They acted overwhelmed and irritated and they had only been open 15 minutes. They let us stand there while one answered the phone and the other wandered off. I went to the restroom and came back out and my husband was still standing there while both girls were trying to figure out where to seat us ( I guess, there was a side bar conversation going on that we werenât part of). Then our greeting was âhow manyâ. We were seated followed with â your server will be right with youâ as she set the menus down and walked off. To be your first impression walking into a place, these two were really lacking in customer service!
We were disappointed with the new, smaller menu. Our favorite venison stuffed mushrooms are gone. Thatâs really one of the reasons we make the 2.5 hour drive from Bakersfield, CaâŚSo disappointing. $20 for 3 shrimp tacos on a board with cold, doughy tortillas and a separate bowl of stale tortilla chips, which I really wasnât sure what to do with? My husbands fried shrimp and fries meal was mounded up on his plate and well worth the $18- this was really good. I shouldâve just stuck with fish and chips. Service was OK. The young man who helped us was pleasant but when we asked for something it took him awhile to finally make his way back to the table. I would hate to see how things are when theyâre actually busy.
Overall it was an OK experience. We wonât be in a hurry to go back and make the 2 1/2 hour drive. We can stay in town and eat red lobster for an OK experience and OK food for...
Read moreI've only eaten here once and the appetizers were good enough for me to consider going back, but the service definitely wasn't. I had their fried alligator, stuffed venison mushrooms, and build your own burger with wild boar meat. The fried alligator was crispy and flavorful with a chicken-like taste, and the sweet jalapeùo cream sauce that came with it was like a queso sauce but sweeter. The stuffed venison mushrooms were alright. The venison was bland, but the white cheddar and lobster cream combination was creamy and tangy. A large slice of garlic bread came with the mushrooms too and it was very garlicky and fluffy. The burger was interesting. The boar meat was very lean, thin, and overall not as good as beef. They also surprisingly couldn't give me cheddar, so I ordered mozzarella, which was nothing special. The burger also had slices of cherry tomato instead of one big regular tomato slice. All of the flavors clashed so much. The ranch I got on the side was watery and weak, but the mayonnaise was creamy with a butter-like consistency and great for dipping the bland fries into. On top of the hit and miss cuisine, we waited 50 minutes to get our main dishes. The appetizers luckily came out at a decent time, but the main courses took way too long. At least we were seated by the beautiful, huge fish tank which was fun to watch. I was originally going to give this place 3 stars but the staff sent a manager to our table without us even requesting one. The manager handled the situation very professionally and nicely, even voluntarily giving us a discount. I'll probably eat there again, but if the service is super slow again then I won't be back...
