What a cool location! As you can see in my photo, the presentation was terrible for the most expensive menu item (southern fried quail). But it tasted great and the other food we ordered looked much better. Our server was decent, but put the wrong order in for someone I was dining with and made no offer for any compensation. The worst part of the visit was an unexpected open mic comedy night that started around 8pm. Our server could clearly see we were there to catch up with friends and made no suggestion that our location near the microphone wouldn’t be good for chatting. The first “comedian”, whose first attempt at comedy was to make fun of my friend dining with me relentlessly, didn’t improve through the remainder of his time at the mic. This place was an awkward combination of higher end [priced] dining and poorly timed comedy bar. Had we seen it was open mic comedy night on their Facebook page (where they relentlessly advertise their burlesque night), we’d have at minimum chosen a different evening to visit.

One of the best drinks I’ve ever had! Hands down, please order the Amber Ambrosia if you have a sweet tooth like me! It was so good I ordered 3 in a row! I could probably drink 7 more of it. Decadent! Their other drinks were also yummy! The bartenders were nice. Our bartender Travis was excellent. We sat at the bar, we had a great conversation with him and the other lady bartender. Gave us great recommendations on where to eat and where to go for a good time in Rapid City. The only disappointment was that I made the reservation under the impression that they would have dinner/food. I wasn’t inform through text that it would only be for craft drinks. We came in hangry hehe. The bartenders were nice enough to order us food upstairs from Murphy’s. (Dont order the dry rub wings unless you want to burn your throat lol literally) Overall had a fantastic time, glad we found it on a blog last minute and would come back when we decide to visit Rapid City in the future!

Great speakeasy with an authentic 20s feel that focuses on craft cocktails. Located in the basement of Murphy's. You'll need to take the elevator down to get there. On weekends they require a password. We went for the comedy open mic on a Thursday. On Wednesdays and Thursdays it's not too crowded and you can do a walk in. Weekends require reservations. I did the 3 course cocktail option where your bartender chooses what to make for $33. It was fun to try new things, but only one of the cocktails was perfect to my liking. We met the executive chef and ordered the bison burger of the moment and it was the best burger I've had in a long time!!! The man knows what he is doing! Creative and delicious menu items.

I have had good experiences at the Blind Lion before but after this evening, they will never receive our future patronage. Their drinks are delicious. This evening, however, the service and food subpar. They were extremely busy. My water arrived with a lip print/crust of the previous patron on the rim. Our food arrived with smaller portions than our counterparts. My boyfriend's food arrived cold. The prosciutto on my chicken tasted like pickle juice. If I had to guess why it would be from poor food handling practice (possibly from when upstairs makes their fancy fried pickles and the juice ended up in the meat). They ran out of dessert and did not communicate but brought an alternate dessert like we would not notice. The alternate cake provided instead of banana tiramisu I threw away. They brought the check for another table to our table. They did not come back to the table to pick up the check for 32 minutes in which we asked for the correct bill. Our whole dining experience took over 2 hours. I am now at home eating chicken mcnuggets from McDonalds because I was still hungry. The $5 mcnuggets are the highlight of...
