One of the best restaurants in Rapid City, on par with restaurants like Everest Cuisine! My family first tried this restaurant shortly after they opened, and we've continued to go back and have even told friends and extended family members about this restaurant! Everything is fantastic. The food is fantastic, and the server/cook even told us that there are some spices that she can't get here that she has her family overseas send to her! The portions are also very good. Me and my boyfriend often struggle to finish our plates! I saw a review that said this place has "small portions" and "overpriced" - I don't know where that person ate, but it couldn't have been here! I've eaten at many restaurants and you can easily get your fill here. My boyfriend also comments every time we visit about how cheap the prices are! For a dine-in restaurant, it is extremely, extremely competitive. I'm not just saying that it's competitive for its value because you get great food, it is price competitive with even less quality restaurants!
One thing I will mention is the service - The service every time that I've personally visited has been lovely! The cook has come out to explain some of the menu options to us before, and she is nice and talkative. However, my extended family visited the restaurant once over the holidays, and it sounded like the restaurant was overwhelmed and didn't have enough staff to keep up. I've honestly only ever seen two employees working at a time, one cook (same lady every time) and one server (varies from day to day). Service has always been great when I've personally visited, so it may have been just the holiday rush. I hope that this restaurant makes enough money to hire more people, because it's truly worth it!
~Side note, for the cook! Me and my boyfriend noticed that you have changed how you cut your Tofu. Before it was cut in thin rectangular slices. Now it is in slightly thicker triangle slices. We love this change! The thickness of the triangles creates a perfect texture when you fry them!...
Read moreI came to Rapid from Chicago to visit my girlfriend and her family. We decided to try Thai Thai, knowing it was the old Siagon restaurant on East North Street. I'm from the Chicago area, and we have pretty good Thai food back home.
After checking the reviews, we saw they had Pineapple Fried Rice, and some people said this stuff was phenomenal. So, she and I decided to share this, with Pad Thai, Ginger Chicken and a ln order of egg rolls. Everything was VERY GOOD!!!!
The egg rolls came out right away. They were crispy, very tasty and the sweet/sour sauce was on the light side. It wasn't overpowering, but you might have to add some extra if you really like the sauce.
The Pad Thai was very hot (temperature wise). Be careful if you dove into that, as it was about the temperature of molten lava. Once cooled, it was pretty good. Normally, I would say this was the best dish we ordered, but....
The Pineapple Fried Rice stole the show!!! It does have raisins and cashews, so if you have allergies, I'm SO SORRY! It was extremely good. Tou can taste the curry, but it compliments the pineapple amazingly well. The added sweet from the raisins gave it an interesting flavor... something I wouldn't have thought of, byt am glad THEY did!
The Ginger Chicken tasted fresh. It wasn't over done, the vegetables were cooked, but still retained sone crisp. By the end of the meal, this crisp had gone, due to the temperature of the fod. There was just enough pepper with the garlic/ginger to give this a nice bite. This was my favorite. My girlfriend's favorite was the Pineapple Fried Rice (and she doesn't...
Read moreThe only reason they are getting a 2nd star is because the chicken yellow entree was Dynamite. But the service was terrible. We walk in the lady at the podium tells us to go sit where we want. I find a table and it took 20 min for someone to come by with menus. The lady just dropped them on the table and proceeded to the next table without introducing her self. 20 more minutes pass before the lady returns to our table, meanwhile we haven't been offered any water or silverware. She takes our food and our drink orders. She's gone for another 30 min. Finally she brings the drinks. I ordered the Thai tea with easy ice. She brings out a a cup full of ice with tiny bit of tea. I asked for a spoon to scoop out the ice before it gets watered down. I never see that spoon and never got to drink my tea. The oil they used for frying is old. The restaurant and our egg rolls smelt bad because of it. It took 45 mins for our appetizer's and our food. We never received out silverware or napkins.
We ended up getting our food to go. It was super cold in the dining room to the point it felt like the AC was on. When I told the lady that we were done waiting all she can say is she has no help. Funny though there isn't a sign for on the door or online advertising for jobs. Overall bad...
