I am one of the original hard core customers who was one of the dozens who used to wait outside in rain and snow waiting for them to open at their original location. For over a year I never missed a week when they were open (they were only open 2 days a week at the old location) I went to the new shop and it's very nice. They have many loaves of bread out on racks. I picked my bread, took it to the counter and asked them to slice it for me. This was ALWAYS accommodated for me and every other customer at the old location. They charged a dollar - which is ridiculous - but that's ok. At the new location they told me they don't do that anymore. If the loaves they put out are not already sliced they will not take the 30 seconds to slice it (and charge the dollar). This is TERRIBLE customer service. They have a slicing machine, it doesn't hurt them one iota to slice the loaf for their CUSTOMERS. Plus, they get the extra dollar. Their machine slices the bread better and more consistently that you can do at home which also makes it more economical for sandwiches and toast. They still get top scores for the quality of their breads, but to be perfectly frank, their new policy of not caring for their customers and poor customer service does not induce me to continue as a weekly loyal customer. In this poor economy, when they are asking $12.00 for a loaf of bread, it would be to their own benefit to provide excellent customer service not lesser...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlmost impossible to find, but worth the 2 trips it took. Hint: it says 'catering' on the outside, an no, you don't have to park in the back alley to get there, like the Google Map says. They are only open on Friday and Saturday, so plan accordingly. I think the way to do this, is to order ahead and then just go in, pay and pick up. I should have gotten more info on that, but there was a line behind me. I could not find a phone number or any answers to that online. Would appreciate any info on that in the comments. Anyhoooo, I was able to get an amazingly beautiful round loaf of crusty Country Bread. It was delicious, with a good texture. I love a crisp crust and a softer center and this fit the bill. I like my sourdough to be more sour, and this wasn't quite that, but I would eat it again. And, again. I will try something else, next time though, because everything looked so good. I also tried a Cardamom roll. It didn't have an overwhelming taste, but it was incredibly good. I saw all sorts of possibilities for serving that up, next time. It was not overly pricey. The loaf and the roll came to $12.90. UPDATE I just clicked on the website and it said they were now taking orders for next Friday. So, I will have to look further into this. If you want to treat yourself to a nice, freshly baked loaf of something amazing - this is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat can I say about this place that could actually describe how amazing it truly is? I truly don't believe there are the right words. My daughter has a gluten sensitivity (not allergy) and has been unable to enjoy good sandwiches and tasty treats for so many years. Several family members have had the same problem but have stated they have been able to eat sourdough. My daughter desperately wanted to try it but I knew store bought was out of the question. Enter this life changing bakery. The bread, the cinnamon rolls, the croissants and the pizza dough have changed our lives. Not only are the products absolutely perfect and heavenly, my daughter has been able to enjoy them without having any reactions. Our weekly trips to get bread and a treat have become something this momma looks forward to. After all, quality time with a teenager is hard to come by. There aren't enough words that could express how grateful I am that this place exists. Not only have we found a product that my kiddo can have and we get to support local, but it gives us a chance to spend some...
