Mimi's Italian Grill and Bar — Restaurant in Ravenna

Upon walking in you find a typical mom and pop Italian restaurant. Nicer bar area and a drab barren dining room with a few decorative accents. This is a seat yourself establishment.

The menu is disappointingly small and has few Italian meals. Front of menu is appetizers and sandwiches/burgers. The back is 1/3 Italian dinners (spaghetti, cavatelli etc) the other 2/3rds are alcohol.

I ordered pasta, while my wife had a sandwich. We also ordered bruschetta for an appetizer. The app came quickly and was different. You get one piece of bread cut into triangles with the bruschetta on them already and mozzarella on top. Not bad, but not what I expect for over $5. The bruschetta was underseasoned.my salad arrived at the same time and was good. The ranch had an unusual tang to it but it was still good.

We learned 35 mins later the sandwich my wife ordered was not available, not sure why it took that long to explain they were out of a meat. A restaurant holding itself out as an Italian grill and deli should not be in that position. My wife was asked of we wanted to delay our entrees further and have someone run out for more meat or sub for something else. Awkward position to put a guest in. She subbed for roast beef.

The food arrived shortly after and looked good. I wish I could say it tasted the same way. My pasta had a lot of water in the bottom but the pasta was cooked well. The marina that is sold here might be the most bland sauce I have ever tasted. Zero seasoning, quite literally tomato and nothing else. The only redeeming item was the meatballs. They had good flavor and consistency.

The overstuffed sandwich was also not good. The meat was bland/greasy with a ghastly vinegar slaw that was bitter. The cheese choice of provolone is odd and completely lost in the pairing. The fries on the sandwich were good though. The other disapointing aspect were the chips served with the sandwich. These were basic and tasted like bagged store chips. Not a great look, just serve fries with sandwiches or offer homemade chips.

I really wanted to like this place but bland food is a sign of kitchen staff not tasting what they cook and allowing quality assurance to drop. I do not believe I will return...

In the mood for Italian on an almost 90° day & wanting to enjoy the sunny day, we looked for a patio to enjoy out lunch and choose Mimi's. It soon became apparent our server didn't enjoy the heat as much as we did or she simply forgot we were out on the patio. Granted, we were the only ones out there. It was a simple order really, 3 orders of wings, 2 6 pieces, 1 dozen with 2 Caprese salads with extra basil with beverages. The salads arrived after a long wait and what a disaster! The poor tomatoes were drowning in a bland balsamic soup that resembled life preservers for the mozzarella 😢. The vinegar vapors hit my nose with every slosh if it wasn't for my contacts and sunglasses, I'm sure my eyes would have been weeping from the fumes, if not the sight before me. And it's the height of Summer! There is absolutely no excuse for not having fresh basil available in your kitchen! In an ITALIAN KITCHEN!! Thankfully, there was a hefty breeze that day and the wings arrived. Not the correct amount. 3 orders of 6 wings arrived. No dozen for me as I had ordered but as the wait was so long I wasn't going to correct it. Wings were meaty and tasty, we all had the BBQ. No complaints there. Our waitress was pleasant enough but....it was 2:00 in the middle of the week, there was only a few other customers, with a simple order. If they can't make a decent Caprese...

Apparently this restaurant doesn't pay their employees once they end their employment. Been waiting on her last paycheck since September which everyone knows should of been mailed to her, then her W2s are damn near tore in half when we got them in the mail. On top of the staff being liars and drunken Hippocrates, the owner supports this behavior and plays the victim and cusses at customers. This restaurant is infested with mold so bad you smell it in the dinning area. Never will I ever eat, or even speak kindly of this restaurant or the staff. They only one who cares and is a great server is Amber. The bar staff harasses the teenage staff as if she is something more then a can slinger, Terrible environment and even worse Staff and owner. The owner sits in the bar drunk cussing and instagating the waitress staff, screams in the Girls faces and the bar tender who looks like Olive oil has no education, well at least the way she speaks to people gives the impression that she thinks she is better then anyone who dines or works there. The Owner allows this behavior, then allows his staff toact unprofessional constantly. Sadly up until here lately it was a great restaurant, until the wrong staff member was put in Charge, n due to their lack of respect is simply ruining the Restaurant.
