Elli’s Backyard — Restaurant in Red Bank

Received a very defensive response from the owner. He is telling me I am lying about our experience and his staff would never ask a customer to leave. Interesting, because we wanted desert and were told sorry we close at 4 for a hour. If I was not asked to leave, why did I not have the opportunity to sample a very inviting desert menu. The saddest part is that he mentions the waitress was him mom. I have thousands of excellent restaurants at which I can dine. I wish Elli's Backyard the best of luck. Naturally I wrote my review because i have a personal vendetta against the owner and his staff. People i have never met before. Naturally i am wrong and his is 100% correct. Good Luck

I give this restaurant one star, not for the food. The food was good. It was the experience we had that I only say good. Restaurant was highly recommended and we looked forward to trying. I went on line to book a reservation and the only one to come up was 3:15 Saturday afternoon. We wanted dinner but decided to go for a late lunch early dinner since that was only available time.. So we made the reservation. We sat down ordered and opened a bottle of wine. Food came and all good. No one mentioned to us that we would have to leave at 4 PM since they close from 4 to 5. Now it was 4 o clock and the waitress brings the check. We tell her we wanted desert. She advised us that they close for the hour and sorry we must leave. Service was very good, food came quickly which we had no issue with. Why do they accept reservations close to 4PM and not advise us that they close at 4. Because of this my opinion of the restaurant changed. We forgot about the meal we ate because no one advised us that we must leave promptly at 4. Their policy should have been on Open Table and we would have tried the restaurant...

I'mma new to Ellie's. I've been back several times already , that is because I don't prepare foods at home, that's why breakfast at Ellie's is like breakfast at home . I've had the best food in the area , I cannot, honestly compare any other eatery because of the highest quality of food served at Ellie's Inside is comfortable, decorated beautifully, and just perfect, gives you a bit of a garden feel, but it's beautiful inside in many ways. The people working there are friendly ! Sometimes, at places, it's easy to tell when someone isn't nice, at Ellie's everyone is friendly and you will feel at home Come in, try it, look at the menu! There are amazing dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can assure you no Disappointment, that's why I keep returning. I'll be trying lunch and dinner very soon Thanks for reading

I'm writing my second review on Oct.9 th 2021 . I had told the people which work at Ellie's, that I'd be bringing my mother there for her birthday dinner. I let them know just a few days ago. Tonight was a very special evening. Tonight is no exception, the experience of this evening was wonderful, everyone was kind, wishing my mother a happy birthday, and as always, very nice to me. The owner is a very friendly, warm and personable .He checked in to ask how we are , is there anything he could do for us, and, finally, I strongly encourage and highly recommend that you have breakfast, lunch or dinner there at Ellie's I personally guarantee that you will love the food It's the best I've had...

Food was very bad. Went there with my family, tables are old and chairs very uncomfortable. Glasses on the table musty and dirtier than the bathroom mirror. Silverware old, looked like it’s been used for at least decade. Doesn’t make sense because it’s a fairly new restaurant in Red Bank. And I honestly see why everyone you ask “how’s Ellie’s Backyard in Red Bank they’ll tell you, it’s not good or they never been because they heard it’s not good.” But I had to try it. Server looked like she didn’t wanna be there, my daughter who’s a server said it yea that was very poor server skills. It’s a service you would get at Waffle House or IHOP. Asked for an another set of silverware she took about 5 mins, maybe more, just for it to be dirty again. I’m sorry but for the price and location of the restaurant things should be different. servers should be asking customers how their day been and where they from and were they going. Not just “Hi welcome to Ellie’s have you been here before?”. Bathrooms dirty and looks like it’s for a whole different building. I don’t even want to get into the food as much, tastes less. Meat was cooked to the point I asked yes. But no tastes, weird and chewy texture. I’ve worked behind the grill for 15 years I know what frozen food tastes like.
