I am writing this review in my car as I am digesting all of the magic my girlfriend and I experienced here. I'll start off with the food because I'm sure that's what most interests you.
Having gone to Rutgers, I've had my fair share of Indian food. This place is hands down the best I've ever had! The blend of spices was so perfectly balanced that you could tell each dish was cooked with love. Eating the Lamb Korma, I could feel the anxieties I've been carrying since this pandemic started slipping away, bite by bite. The paneer masala was smothered in a velvety red potion of everything that is good with this world. We also spoke with one of the owners, Puja, who was extremely warm and hospitable. She recommended that we try the Methi Malai Mutter and she was absolutely on point! The food alone is enough to have me planning future trips here.
But good food isn't enough to get me to write a review like this. The ambiance in here is spectacular, I could tell that the owners have been meticulous in their efforts to make their creation come to life. It is very warm and open and I'm pretty sure everyone there had a smile on their face, both staff and patrons!
They are making sure to stop the spread of covid by taking serious precautions while still offering incredible service. Diana was extremely attentive to our needs and made us feel like we were welcomed guests. We didn't have to ask for refills on water (which is really big for me, don't ask me why. It just is 🤣) and the empty dishes pretty much disappeared as soon as the last morsel of goodness was served to one of our plates.
You can tell that everyone who works here loves what they do and that translates into a recipe for success in any venture. And when it is applied to a restaurant, it turns me into a very loyal, happy, and satisfied customer!
Finding this restaurant gave me hope in this dark time and reminds me that there is still beauty to be found in this world. Hopefully I'll see you there sometime because my girlfriend and I are already planning...

Read moreI sing at St.James right around the corner from Bombay river, and after mass we could smell some delicious food from the parking lot. One of the priests mentioned that it was Bombay River and my partner started to look at the menu online.
He has nut allergies, we both have a lactose intolerance, and I have celiac disease...quite a pair lol ANYWAYS..he stepped away to call and came back with such great info. The entire menu is NUT free, egg free, they have a ton of gluten sensitive options (to be made gluten free) and have plenty vegetarian/vegan options as well. (As a note, most of the time, I CAN eat from a kitchen that shares space with gluten, I know some people with celiac disease cannot).
We ended up walking over, and meeting the man who spoke to my partner on the phone. He was so wonderful, and was happy to break down the menu for us. We both love Indian food and were excited to try something new without worrying about allergies or getting "glutened".
I ordered a dish I don't normally see on the menu of our Indian food place (mango chicken korma) and my partner got a lovely nut free chicken biriyani. We were the happiest clams. Both were so flavorful and presented so beautifully.
We also had a mango lassi (the best I've ever had...and I've had a lot) and a delicious potato appetizer (aloo tikki).
The have options for spice levels as well. (In case you're not keen on the spices, you can choose your spicy.)
All in all, I LOVED the food. I had no digestive issues. I loved the ambiance! I felt very happy to eating such good food and I thought the service was great.
I haven't been loving going out to eat lately, and I can assure you internet world (and Bombay River) that I...
