I am going to get the one negative thing out of the way first: their bathroom was out-of-service. I think it was flooded. Anyhow, things happen and I feel that it is not fair to factor that into the review. The reason I am giving such a high rating is because both the food and service was fantastic. I don't normally write reviews, but I felt I should say something about this place. I had a mushroom quesadilla (quesadilla champiñones). We were on our way to a show and what we ordered was about 3 times larger in serving-size than my family expected. It was probably the best quesadilla and rice and beans I had had ever. We were going to the Count Basie Theater and were cognizant that we would not be able to bring the food in (for security reasons), so we asked if the kitchen if they could keep it for us and they did. We came back after the concert and picked up the food. We took the NJ Transit back home and the train broke down due to mechanical issues. We had left the food on the top shelf of the train and had left without it when they had to take the train out of service and instead, had to take a bus home. The reason I am mentioning that, as-well, is because I was to some extent, kind-of upset. This shows that the food we ate was good enough that I could not just shrug off the circumstance of forgetting that food. Altogether, it is casual and the atmosphere is basic, but that is really not needed when you want some splendid food with generous serving sizes and, as to when I went there, very friendly staff. This is a definite...
Read moreI went with my wife to try this tacos. I must say that the best thing is that they are authentic and I made me remember my home town. I order Lengua tacos (tong) and my wife Bistec. I loved the way they served the tacos, i know this is a small detail but it was nice. My tong tacos were delicious, is hard to find those around so once i saw them in the menu i didnt hesitated. My wife ordered Bistec and while i tried them and they were good, my wife mentioned they were a little greasy. For me they wasnt but the only thing is that they taste like Bistec + Chorizo, i mean i liked them but not sure if a person ordering just bistec is expecting that. We order Jamaica (hibicus) for beverage and it was really good. I also loved that they were selling Chips and Soda with Mexican Flavors. 4 stars are because of the Bistec tacos, and i would make it 4.5 but...
Read moreI am a Gringo, but kind of an expert with Mexican Food.
We ate here Sunday, 10/06 just before the finale of the N.J. Hispanic Film Fest conclusion at the The Vogel Theater. The place is small, tight, but the food is good! Food orders were chicken tacos (Tacos de Pollo) and chicken sopes (Sopes de Pollo). Both very good, filled with a lot of seasoned chicken.Tortillas are hand made.Salsa was good, as well as the side of Guacamole; more than enough for two people. Prices were fair. And the place is BYOB. I would recommend this for a quick, reasonably priced, authentic Mexican meal. Bathroom was updated and fairly clean. Service was good!
This was our second time...
