I decided to go to Red Bank Marina after enjoying crabbing at another place the week before and had high hopes. Overall, I felt belittled, uncomfortable, and dirty because the water just isn't very clean.
The moment we arrived, a young kid and an older man sowed up where to park. They were clearly annoyed and impatient. There was a line since only one group at a time is allowed into the shop, meaning we were unable to shop for bait and other items until you were renting the boat, leading us to feel rushed and unable to consider our purchases. The boat price was reasonable, but the handling by what I assume the owner was extremely unprofessional considering he rents boas to people who do not have boating licences and come to his marina specifically because they're new to this.
Great, fine, we listen to his warnings and "advice", I go through how to turn on the motor and such, get on the water. We found the area to be a bit too deep and the current a little much to catch much. Each time we moved the boat, the motor took a bit to turn on, but we got the hang of it after once more being belittled by the young kid causing wake waves and telling me I was weak instead of explaining that the pull needs to be dragged further out.
Everything is swell, until the it's not. The motor no longer gets us forward, it just bubbles. I call in, explain, am treated like I'm crazy because "that's weird" and am told it'll be ten minutes. We're drifting, we're frustrated, we're in the channel. It's a mess. The crew who helped us was wonderful, besides really pushing for a tip, we got on another boat, caught a few more crabs, perfect. This boat doesn't quite work properly, but it's fine, we're moving.
We leave, and there's no mention of the broken boat, nothing. Again, if you're renting boats out to people who do not have a licence, you should probably be prepared for quite a bit of inexperience and issues.
The only value was the few crabs we did catch, were a good size. Definitely will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTruly donāt know where to begin. I have rented boats from red bank marina for 2 years or so and last year we finally bought my own boat. Our first trip out for the season, our engine had some issue and Steve sent someone to us to help with out even charging us . We then decided to get the engine repaired as well as a Bimini top installed, flooring installed, and some other odds and ends done . Honestly Steve and his crew really treated our own boat like their own and treated us like family . They could of overcharged us as we obviously are learning as first time boat owners and they did not. The engine feels like itās brand new. Steve also took the time to educate us on what and why he was doing. Honesty, transparency, and all around great work. Also like to thank his son as well for helping us as we know this marina is going to be in great hands for a long time. Want to rent a boat , this is your place (trust us we know we made the mistake of renting fr their competitor once because they didnāt have any boats left, bad mistake ). Need boat work done, definitely come here . Wish i can...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo it was my very first time here and I went because someone told me about it. We are very big on crabbing and being able to rent a boat is absolutely amazing because we cantpurchase or store one just yet. The price for all day is amazing, it is first come first serve which is pretty cool. I wish the parking lot was a bit bigger but there is outside street parking so it isnt really bad. This place sells bait which is critical for crabbing. Overall this place is amazing, the people are awesome and very kind. Everyone was friendly and everyone wore masks. They made sure everyone was social distancing by allowing only 1 person in the office at a time and had to wear a mask. My kids loved it they had a life vest on which was provided and we were able to fit 5 people on a boat that didnt require a boat license. We were able to catch a bucket full of crab and spent a little less then half the day there. I will definitely be going back and doing this over. It was an...
