The Regional Manager at Denny’s in Red Oak probably thinks that we forgot about what we saw on Christmas day when we went to eat at Denny’s but we didn’t forget. Life got a little hectic but I wanted to be sure to leave this review every single place possible because what we witnessed on Christmas was atrocious and unacceptable!
There were 5 of us who decided to have Christmas dinner at Denny’s. We chose Denny’s because one of my sisters had been in the hospital ICU for 12 days and wanted to eat somewhere close. When we pulled up, the handicapped parking space was taken by a big box truck with no sticker and no place card. My sister has a handicapped place card and wasn’t able to walk very far so the first thing I did when we walked in was ask for the manager to see if he would find out who parked their box truck in the handicapped spot because my sister needed it. The manager came to the front and pretty much said there was nothing he could do. He didn’t care in the slightest. I decided to let that go and we were sat at a table where we waited for over 30 minutes for our drink orders to be taken (mind you, it was not that busy when we were there at 3pm). We finally got our drinks but while sitting there waiting for someone to take our order (45 minutes after we had gotten there), all of the sudden my son’s fiancée’s jaw fell open and she let out a gasp! We all looked over at her and she said that she witnessed the manager (THE MANAGER) open a bagged salad with his teeth and proceed to dump it in some container. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? We were FURIOUS! I mean, not only is that a health code violation and not only is it absolutely disgusting but we are in the middle of the COVID Pandemic and the MANAGER is opening bagged salad with his teeth!!!!! This was all we needed to see. I saw several other men walking around the kitchen who looked like they were some type of manager so I motioned one of them over to our table and asked him for the number to the corporate office. He asked me why I needed it and what was wrong. I told him that I did not want to discuss it with him but wanted the number for corporate and wanted his store number. He told me that he was the Regional Manager so corporate would just end up calling him to handle any issues and he would not give me the number unless I told him why I wanted it, so, I told him what was witnessed. He said he was sorry that happened and he said he would take care of it and walked away. I was not happy with his nonchalant attitude and told him that I would find the number to corporate myself and of course we immediately left and went somewhere else to eat for our own safety. It took all that I had not to stand up in the middle of the restaurant and tell everyone what we just saw. This is a health risk to the public!!!! To have people, especially the MANAGER, opening bagged salad with their freaking teeth!!!
Never will I ever eat at the Denny’s in Red Oak again, and I intend to let the health department know about what was witnessed as well. Denny’s in Red Oak is a no go for me and my family going forward. Considering what the manager did, I would be deathly afraid of catching COVID or some other disease, and people need to be made aware of what happened and the nonchalant attitude the Regional...
Read moreWe stopped here while en route to a destination along Interstate 35 recently. It was on a Tuesday evening (kids eat free during this time!). This is a clean, relatively new Denny’s. I did notice 2 crickets crawling in the middle of the floor during our hour-long visit. There were only about 5 other parties in the restaurant when we arrived. They seemed to be patrons from the local area, as one appeared to be calling across the restaurant from his table to get the attention of...someone else. That was a little uncomfortable, but easy to ignore.
The hostesses were polite and practical about our seating; one in our party used a walking cane, and they seated us in an accessible location. Booths and tables are available. The arrangement of the booths, and height of the booth seat backs somehow reduces the privacy of the restaurant. I felt like I could see and hear every other patron, and they could see and hear me. It wasn’t bothersome enough to make us leave, but it was notable.
Denny’s has a good variety of menu choices, including gluten-free and vegetarian options. Breakfast and sandwiches are a safe bet.
The service was quick but congenial and polite. I do wish that the server had explained what all came with my omelette. I wasn’t expecting hash browns and toast.
The food was tasty and served at the correct temperature: pancakes and omelette were enormous, hash browns cooked just right, bacon was crispy. Toast arrived pre-buttered, which I’ve never seen before. Take-home containers were provided, and they appear to be made from sustainable materials, and washable and reusable.
I took away one star due to the crickets, the comfort level of the seating arrangement, and server not advising of meal options. This Denny’s is a safe bet if you need to get off the road and have a sit-down meal that will please the...
Read moreI highly recommend this Denny’s. Giving it in my book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! We live in Cedar Hill and have other locations closer to us but will drive a little extra for this specific Denny’s. We, being me, family & friends have been going to this Denny’s for over a year in half now. We’ve seen this location go from having 2 waiters up to 6 and pulling off an awesome job on their busiest hours & days of the year. The Management & staff treat everyone as family. I will admit I’ve seen new employees come and go like a revolving door, but in my opinion & business owner myself it’s expected. Not everyone is cut out to be in this line of work. I’m leaving this review due to being blessed in having this specific Denny’s location open for Thanksgiving Day and welcoming us under the most busiest day of the year. I want to commend Rashid the manager that walked into his shift with so much chaos and a very upset customer yelling at how he was handling the situation. We sat back and observed, heard the complaints & heard how Rashid tried his hardest to explain but he kept going on as an overwhelming amount of orders where coming in. (DoorDash in my experience is the worst delivery service, messed up orders) Me & my husband witnessed this event and waited till almost 10:30 that evening to speak to this manager along with our waitress. We had to let them know how we appreciate everything they do and have done to this location. I have reached out to upper management, giving them our outlook of this specific location. All in all... Rashid , Alicia, Tanya & it’s staffing in total, Mike we won’t forget you.... keep up the Awesome Job! We love you all & will continue to be spending many more breakfast, lunch, dinners & holidays with you all.🙏🙏Blessings!🥰 Shiela & Luis...
