King’s Southern Delight — Restaurant in Redan

I had been thinking I wanted some soul food and wanted to come here for weeks. I use to come here for my ex husband ,myself , my daughter and her two sons. A few times we were disappointed because the food was bland and needed season but we still came back every now and again with our own seasoning in the car . But this time I came alone. I'm a Gig worker so I made me a quick $15 ready to get me a plate. The restaurant wasn't full of great cooking smells but the line was long. I really didn't see what I wanted so I choose the lunch neck bone plate with macaroni and cheese ,yams , collard greens and rice came under the one and half bones she gave me. The lady fixing plate seems hesitant in giving me another neck bone . One was small the other medium but both with no meat. I wanted to say something but it seems like she was being watched the way she hesitated. The macaroni was dry it didn't look good but I still got it but it wasn't good dry and bland. The yams was alright but not good enough for me to come back. The two neck bones she gave me had no meat and not seasoned at all and under the meat the rice tasted watery I spit it out it was so nasty .I took packets of salt and pepper trying to give it favor when I just gave up.The cornbread look so dry I was scared to try it . It was dry not fluffy at all. I paid $13. And change for some nasty food .One of the ladies fixing the food was nice but the cashier is always nonchalant and Everytime looks to see if you are tipping. I didn't like him dragging my silverware though in plastic on the counter. He never says thank you. This is my last time going here. I started to ask for refund but I decided I just will not go back. I know how to cook I just was working an thinking I would get a plate. Then I remembered the food was never that good I just would go there because of my ex husband wanting the pig feet plate. To me the restaurant doesn't look that clean so I always pray that are no surprises in my food. Im not going back anymore . It was just too nasty. I wouldn't recommend anything but some seasoning. Clean smelling and food smell filling the room restaurant. Maybe your food is bland for those whom can't get season . But how can you mess up macaroni and cheese it was too nasty. Then the rice was nasty too no flavor no butter no salt I almost threw up. Then the neck bones had no meat I just threw the whole plate way. But it's people whom love their food I'm just not...

Edit:7/30/25. AGAIN!!! I just feel like the customer service can be better. You got these old mean looking ole ladies that dont smile, dont greet you but just say “waddya having” & if you dont know what you want they sigh & give off attitude & want you to hurry up & say what you want but then they moving like molasses themselves. My advice, if this is your first time going here know what you want because they will give you attitude. They make it so unwelcoming. Idk if its because im young but on other days ive seen these women react better with ppl their age & then be dry with me. The only dude that is cool is the boy ringing you up & even he doesnt say much but i never got any bad vibes from him. For food thats just decent at best i feel like they can have better attitudes towards customers. This is my 3rd time experiencing these unsettling attitudes. It make you not even wanna support your own ppl.

Customer service can be a little better. The workers are too slow & the Skinny lady with her haircut on the sides & hair sticking up attitude can be better. She letting people skip the lines. & Came from behind the counter when i first came in to take a elderly woman order & bumped me almost knocking my phone out my hand. & didnt say excuse me. Took someone elses order over the counter while i was next in line close to the cashier. & when i asked for extra dressing she looked at me gave me a deep Sigh with a look of disgust. It is May 1st, 2025 2:18 pm. I had to make a review in my car at the restaurant. I was waiting in line observing the short response of the server with the hair bun getting smart with customers as they asked simple questions. Patience was very short. One customer just left. Then the older lady with the heavy makeup and blue eyeshadow took a plate with Smothered pork chops and rice and remove the porkchop from the plate, after it has been removed ftom the buffet tray and the customer didn't want/left, and put it back in the serving buffet tray to be reissued and threw the rice in the trash. I'm watching her shaking my head. Now it's my turn. She pulls the same porkchop, that she put back in the tray with rice still attached at the bottom of it to reserve to me. I kindly, and I was very kind, asked if I could have another piece than the one she was reissuing. The attitude from the lady was Ridiculous and the lady with the hair bun on top of head begin to chime in. I hope there is a camera in there to replay what I am writing. I have never had an issue with King's Southern and viewed it as a Christian establishment but today was not a good day as a customer for me and others that was ahead of me. I wished I could had sent a complaint directly to the owners rather than writing this review but today was unacceptable. Such action would have received a negative mark on inspection.
