Stopped by there last Monday for a quick late breakfast. Arrived shortly after 10am. When I first walked in, I was shocked to see the place really needs to be shut down, cleaned and have numerous amounts of damage repaired. We took out seats. Now understand, I just had a knee and hip replacement, and my buddy that was with us is in a wheel chair and my wife is leading the way for us directly behind the waitress, who decided we need to be seated in the farthest most inconvenient seat that they offered. We sat down in our booth and started looking at menus. Of course, everything on the menu looked killer. Roughly 15 minutes went by and our waitress (let's call her Flo) came and took out orders and shortly after that brought us our drinks. I ordered coffee, well about the third refill I was starting to get a bit frustrated as to how much longer our food is take to get to us. Now at this time folks around us that came in after us, ordered....ate.... Chatted amongst themselves and were leaving.... Know this, I'm not the guy who can get their mouths shut in most situations. And before I was even able to speak one word, I noticed wife was also frustrated by our situation, for the simple fact we were not there too hang out, I just recently had major surgery. And she flagged "Flo" down and she acted really concerned. And said she'd get to the bottom of it immediately... Where I come from when someone says their gonna get to the bottom of something, it typically meant that moment... Instead I feel she went out on break, had here nails done at the salon, and shopped for car insurance in her car, then came in to let us know that the order is up and will only be a few minutes... Ok....STOP!! Is what I was thinking, but instead, I smiled and said no problem, we've already been there for almost two hours at this point...... Tick Tok..... Time just keep slipping away And then shortly after noon I see here bringing some plates out way....I hurried up and made room for our plates, and "ZooM,!! There goes Flo again with food for the guest that arrived well over and hour after we did.... At this point I just want to pay for the drinks and head out... My wife asked me to give her another minute, and sure enough... Here comes Flo with more food, and guess what? It was ours....yeah!!! I'm virtually ready to eat wallet. So my buddy was served his, then my wife hers... And then Flo just walked away.....I have her about seven minutes and that's where I blew a fuse. Asked my wife if it was wrong of me just to leave, because I want going to watch them eat and continue to still wait. She said that would be fine and she'll get my food and bring it out to the car, if and when it arrives. I handed my wallet to her so she could settle the bill, walked out to car and waited roughly until just before 1 pm and they came out with my meal. Which I must say tasted and looked nothing like the menu. Had a dish soap taste to it and the meal was cold. I could say without hesitation that Denny's in Redding is now completely off a place to stop for food and service, and the sad part is, I really have a lot of good food and service on the past, my family has been going to that same Denny's for over 20 years... What a day I should say, and wish you the...
Read moreI'm only giving it three stars because they were crowded but not completely full and our food took well over an hour to arrive after we ordered the waiter did not come to check on us one time after we ordered and neither did he return after the food was finally brought to our table also we were informed upon arrival that their blender was broken so we would not be able to order milkshakes or smoothies which was disappointing because we had planned on getting milkshakes my day also ordered a pancake dish. Included bananas and we were informed they were out of bananas as well and therefore could not let her order that dish which seemed ridiculous since you could walk across the parking lot to 7-Eleven and get some bananas but we ended up suggesting to potentially just substitute another type of fruit for the bananas which after some consideration the waiter agreed to allowing strawberries instead of the banana they were unable to provide. Now don't you think that the waiter should have approached us and offered to still oh well her to order that dish and perhaps suggest that there be another fruit substituted in place of the one they had ran out of ? or is it just me. Also I wanted to order french toast just the French toast no eggs no bacon no sides just an order of french toast but four slices not just one like you would receive if you ordered a side of French toast and somehow the waiter could not figure out how to process my request and said the only way he could think to do that would be for me to just order a grand slam and then let my date have the eggs and bacon and sausage and hash browns that came with it which obviously made no sense whatsoever and seems like he was just trying to get me to purchase things that I clearly did not want so the bill would be higher. Which is exactly what happened because after a few minutes of trying to get him to understand that I just wanted to order four slices of French toast and nothing else he ended up bringing me the Grand Slam with eggs hash browns and bacon. He suggested my five foot nothing 100 pound date could go ahead and eat those items, even though her order already included eggs and sausage. She got the Salted Caramel pancakes which came with their own side dishes and we each ordered a glass of milk as well that was it and our ticket came out to around $40 which seemed extremely high as well and I was leaving a 15% tip 20% is usually standard for me but since the service was next to terrible I was only going to do 15 percent but the woman I was with insisted that I leave them less due to the poor service which I couldn't disagree with and allowed her to persuade me to do so. I hardly ever do that but I guess the amount you leave does reflect how you felt about your service and if I was using that as my rule of thumb shewas right it was terrible and they hardly deserved...
Read moreOk. I’ll try and be fair as possible. I’ve been driving non stop, on the road for what seems hours, driving from Coos Bay, Oregon, to Sacramento, CA. I make a pit stop here, at Dennys in Redding, CA. It’s about midnight or so. Now, I could have, and probably should have, just went to In-N-Out burger instead. However, I was craving Denny’s for their bigger burger, awesome shake and table service. I ordered just that, a bacon avocado burger along with an Oreo shake and a cup of coffee. The server, an older gal, asked me “so how are we paying today? Cash or card?” Hmm. That’s strange, considering I’m dining IN, and I have yet to be served! So, in no mood to object, argue or try to challenge her, I pay with card. Bewildered, I said something along the lines of:“you guys must have a theft problem, huh?” Which she replied “yes. We do.” Alright! So just assume I’m not going to pay. Awesome! But hey, that goes for everyone right? (No, just me. Not the couple next to me or the older couple 2 tables down from me.) Ok. We’re off to a weird start… My burger gets here too quick (good or bad? Sitting there or fresh?) and I’m FORCED to get up and ask for condiments. No tomatoes, no lettuce no pickles no onion no NOTHING!! Just a burger with mayonnaise!! Weird. Burger was good. Fries were good. Little greasy but that’s ok. Oh and did I mention, I had to ask, again, for my shake, before I left? I guess it just wasn’t her night?? She sure seemed to be content though. I’ll let it slide. Now, here’s the thing: I like to enjoy myself. Like anyone who decides to dine in over fast food, we pay for the experience. Little bit of peace. Time to ponder. Whatever it is, that’s why I’m Paying $27($32 with the tip!) instead of $6 at McDonald’s!! I find it EXTREMELY disrespectful to be profiled like I am some low-life, who isn’t going to pay his tab! That’s just not cool. And yes, I am taking it personal considering 3 other tables, all who didn’t have to pay until they were done eating!!! You could say, I was the only lad who had to pay upfront. For once, I REALLY do feel bothered here. And I’m the kind of person that has very thick skin. Call me any name in the book, go ahead. But you don’t treat the customer like they’re dishonest!! Crazy. Just crazy. If you do, however, require patrons to pay before you serve them, then be sure to apply that rule to EVERYONE. THE SAME. Not just who you ASSUME is a POS. Thanks! Merry Christmas to all and a happy New...
