Where theres smoke, theres fire... and the converse is true as well. Theres no smoke and for me that rules out this place as Q. Putting sauce on a meat cooked in an oven and calling it Q is like putting feathers on a pig and calling it chicken. Meats seem to have no basic seasonings like salt except the sauce. Recommend a dry brine or a quick cure. Tri-tip is apparently stored in hot water to keep it moist cuz my plate was full of water and both ribs and tip were grey inside from what i believe to be hot water involvement. Boiling meat takes away the fats which robs most the flavor fyi. Country ribs were undercooked and still tough. More time and internal temp needed to have fibers release imo. Barbecue potato side dish is a baked pot w sauce poured on it. Never seen that before. Potato wedges very tasty and best part of meal. If you enjoy a show during your meal you will enjoy the aerial antics of the 100 flies that you will be swatting at if u eat inside. Explains why ppl across the room went outside to eat... we should have followed. In all seriousness if there are this many flies out in the customer area, what is going on in the kitchen? Kinda revolting. Why has ownership just given up and accepted this level of insect invasion? Overall i dont understand the high ratings as nothing of this visit had a redeeming quality.. except we didnt pay much. Food is inexpensive which is good. But i gladly pay double for good smoky Q. If you want a smoke ring consider this one off your list despite all the raving reviews... which i still just......
Read moreI stopped in because I was working nearby and I was craving some BBQ. I read a couple of positive reviews so I thought I'd give them a try but regretfully I should have read all of thier reviews. I hate giving a negative review but people should know what kind of food they are likely to be served here.
I ordered the 3 meat plate with tri-tip, ribs, and spicy sausage. The meat was over cooked, dry, and lacking in flavor. I believe this is why they cover their meat with a lot of BBQ sauce, an attempt to compensate because it's dry, over cooked, and flavorless. I have asked many of my friends and family and I can't find a single person who likes dry, over cooked, and flavorless meat. It's as if they cooked this meat a week ago and have been reheating it ever since.
Was there anything good? Yes, the coleslaw and BBQ beans were good (side items). They also serve fresh brewed iced tea and that was good. The lady working the front counter was friendly and the restaurant was clean. But these aren't reasons why we visit a BBQ place, we go there for the good food. The other stuff is important but it's not the main reason.
My apologies to these people but if you want to stay in business you need to serve better food. But if you like dry, over cooked, and flavorless meat, this is the place for you.

Read moreThis is the hole in the wall smoke house you've been looking for. It has no ambience, unless you count all the dollar bills people have stuck to the walls over the years. They are stained brown with years of smoke imbued into them. They stand testament to the daily ritual of smoked ribs and chicken that come from the kitchen. I took a chance on Fat Daddy's on Lake Day. Bunch of friends out on a boat. I ordered the 10 peice chicken and 2 racks of ribs. I picked them up from a crew who looked like they'd been there since 4 am smoking the meat. And the meat! Perfectly fall-off-the -bone chicken, excellent smoke flavor without being overpowering, and the chicken was still moist, a neat trick after cooking something for hours. The ribs pulled freely from the bone without disintegrating into mush, the sweet spot between super tender and just enough chew to be fun. Again, well smoked but still subtle enough to taste the actual pork. Finally, the sauce itself: full flavored, bold but not rude, allowing the meat to shine through. It coated the meat with a thin glaze, not a gloppy goo that sticks like mayonnaise. These people NAILED it. Highly recommended. Note* I only ordered meat, no sides, so I can't...
