Friendly Tavern — Restaurant in Redington Shores

I loved the Friendly Tavern. Keyword here is 'Loved.' Past tense. I had been comming on and off with family and friends to this place for as long as I can remember. However, this time was the first time I actually had the worst experience I can ever think of having. The service was lousy and when I complained to the manager, she basically told me the woman serving us had to serve the entire room. Excuse me??? How is that good service??

To start from the beginning: My best friend and I went to the resturaunt at 3PM and sat down. It took 10 minutes to get drinks and another 2-3 roughly to place our orders. We were never greeted by ANYBODY. Not a 'Hi, how are you' or 'Have a seat, we'll be with you shortly' or any generic greeting which would've been perfectly acceptable.

I watched another table not only get their drinks and appitizers before me and my friend (this table arrived after us) but they also got their Entrees. WE HAVEN'T EVEN HAD OUR APPITIZERS!

I flagged another waitress to see what the problem was. needless to say, our appetizers were out much quicker. Our drinks were never refreshed and our food was warm at best.

After bringing all of this to the manager's attention, it was then I was informed htat my server was the one serving the entire room of tables. Excuse me? What kind of bull crap is this? I am basically telling you I'm getting insufficient service and you're telling me that there is only one server in the house. This is a lie: There were at least 3-4 other servers that I could see through my 'visit' to this establishment. To be told there was only 1 server for the entire 'house' is bullcrap. I wouldn't be flagging you if I hadn't had to get ANOTHER SERVER to get your attention!

I was so shocked I couldn't come up with a response to that. Needless to say, our entrees were brought out not even another 10 minutes later, but another 5 minutes after that, we were handed our 'altered' check and asked if I wanted a take out box for my meal.

All in all, my friend and I were there roughly an hour with the worst service I ever had. I can't even critique the food because I barely got to finish I was so angry.

Until these people shape up, I wouldn't recommend going. It's a shame too because I loved going there.

I typically do not review restaurants, my spouse is a server so I have become more forgiving about poor service. When we decided to go to the "Not so" friendly tavern it was on Mother's day and we were looking forward to going out to eat. I typically cook our dinner, but it was vacation and mother's day. We found the Friendly Tavern on Google and gave it a shot. When we sat down we were "greeted" by our server, I couldn't tell you her name not because I couldn't remember, but due to the fact she never told us her name or wore a name tag. I say greeted with a great degree of flexibility in the definition of being greeted. When the server finally returned to the table to get our drink order she was short with us and rude. I assumed she was having an off day, merely trying to sympathize with her. We received our drinks about 15 minutes after ordering them. It wasn't very busy, but it still took forever to even get our server to come by. We ordered our food, nothing that should have taken an hour to cook, but it did. My med rare prime rib was awful, tasted like it was thawed in warm sink water, it had no flavor. They brought us a butter knife for my prime rib and also gave two of us the wrong sides. Our drinks stayed empty and we only received one refill a piece and we had to get that from another server. When it came time to pay, I had to get up and find the server to give her the money. The server was also rude to my 8 year old daughter despite how pleasant we were with her. This review is only a fraction of the issues we had, so we will not be returning to this establishment. A tavern with no taps is interesting. Just bottles and cans. And there is no list to see.

They have outdoor seating on the front deck. But they allow cigar smoking where the tables are. And with the front door open, it went right into the dining room. Luckily, someone shut the door because they were cold.

It took a while. Enough the waitress told us they sent another guy to the kitchen to help out. There was only us and another table. I got a chicken ceasar salad, and my partner got the buffalo chicken wrap. 16 minutes later, they came out to say they were just waiting on the wrap. And yes, the other table had their food. 8 minutes later and it came out and was incorrect. Only one of us got a silverware set since I got a salad, and there was no other napkin for my partner. We noticed some tables had paper towel holders, but ours did not.

It took me a while to get the waitress to come back to inform her the meal was incorrect. It was the salad. I said no dresses, and it was completely tossed in italian, not even ceasar. At that point, my partner was done eating with my help attacking his fries, and my patience had run out. It should not take hours to eat a simple meal when they are dead. I informed her of the issue and kindly asked her to remove it from my bill, which it was obvious it was not touched. I got a huge eye roll, and she walked away with it.
