We have been going to Five Guys consistently a few times a month for that greasy food craving. Their burgers are pretty good for what they are, even considering the price.
However, when we went there just last night, we opened our burgers up when we got home to find they had decreased in size to about 2/3 of what they used to be. Not just small patties, but a much smaller bun, too, that is quite literally the size of the palm of my hand. This wasn't just my perception or one unluckily small burger - all three people that I'd gotten food for said their burgers were much smaller, and we even have proof of how much they've decreased.
When I called the store to ask what was going on - whether this was a new corporate-mandated reduction in size, or maybe the had just run out of buns and gotten some smaller ones - I was shot down and told nothing had changed, this was the same size they had always been, if I thought the patties were smaller around then they must be thicker because they didn't get smashed as much as normal (they were not), and the buns all came from the same distribution center so my eyes were playing tricks on me and they most certainly weren't smaller. Management tried to get me off the phone by telling me they'd refund my money, but I made it clear I was calling to get an honest answer on their drastic change in size, not free food. I kept being insulted and lied to about how myself and the other members of my house were wrong and how I don't know what I'm talking about.
I've looked into this since, and apparently Five Guys has been slowly and discreetly reducing the size of their burgers every now and then for years with neither an explanation nor a drop in price. I believe this to be extremely poor business practice, if you won't warn people that they're about to pay the same amount of money for substantially less food, and then won't even admit to it when they notice, but instead insult the customer.
Not interested in coming back for what my roommate equated to a White Castle...

Got home with my burgers, and there was no hamburger meat. This would have been one star, but when I called, the manager agreed to refund my order.
However, the next day the refund didn't post to my account. I called back and an employee named "A.D." said he'd make sure it was refunded the next day. 3 days later no refund. I called back and had to speak to his manager, who agreed to refund the order. 3 phone calls, 6 days.
So I guess they expect the customers to inspect each burger to make sure there are patties inside?
And I guess they ALSO expect you to check your account when they say they'll give you a refund, so when they forget to do it you can call to remind them, twice.
This has been my third bad experience here. They need manager training and/or an audit of their customer experience processes. Crossing this location...
