DELICIOUS LUNCH ! My wife and I were checking out a few things up towards Torrance on Wednesday. In fact our first stop was in Huntington Beach at around midday. At that point we needed to grab some lunch before our next appointment in Torrance. Not knowing the area we decided that Creme De La Crepe in Redondo Beach would be the best option. It was a 40 minute drive but we will drive a good distance for great food. After arriving in Catalina Ave around 12.30pm there was not a metered street parking spot in sight....the lunch time crowd was out in full force. After a few local laps we eventually scored a metered parking spot in a huge parking lot behind Creme De La Crepe. Walking to the restaurant we agreed it had been 5 years since our last visit...for breakfast on a Sunday. Today would be our first time for lunch. A hostess / server named Genya caught our eye when we walked inside. There was a chilly wind blowing outside so we asked for an indoor table near the front. Genya took our order for 2 x lattes while we familiarized ourselves with their lunch time offerings. We asked for glasses of water too. Not knowing how the rest of our busy day was going to pan out we went with a moderate lunch...SAVORY BUCKWHEAT CREPES. We know for certain the crepes here are excellent ! My wife chose the MONTAGNARDE ( melted raclette cheese, potatoes, grilled onions and prosciutto topped with cornichons ) while I went with the MARINE ( fresh scallops, mushrooms, tomato & shrimp prepared in a white wine clam sauce ). Our rich tasting lattes made by Genya our server / barista tasted very invigorating.... much needed during our hectic day. Another friendly server named Cameron delivered our lunch order to our table. Presentation is everything with food...if it looks good then it will probably taste good. WHAT A PLEASURE ! Our savory crepes tasted awesome....perfectly delicate with delicious ingredients. The tender scallops and juicy shrimp drenched in the incredible white wine clam sauce in my Marine crepe tasted totally MOUTHSATIONAL ! Our lunch was a...
Read moreLate review. I was at this location over the weekend, Sunday afternoon, 01/28/2023. I came in with a small group, we've been wanting to try it for for a while so, today was the day! Jumping right in to the service, we couldn't have had a better experience! I knew our server, the young lady, was French as soon as she greeted us. That set the tone! Such a vibe!
Since I was already familiar with the menu before coming in, I asked for recommendations and we were not disappointed! Our server, Fanny, (we had to ask for her name because she was awesome!) was so welcoming and helpful, she knew the menu as if she was the owner, bartender, and head chef! We are a picky bunch and she made our day to say the least! Our drinks were flowing, as if she read our minds every time we wanted a refill. The mimosas and Bloody Orange Bellinis were on point! I could tell she was super busy but she made it happen. Even the way she handled other tables, we knew she's a stellar server. She always took a moment to come by and check on us and kept our party going, that's important for a spot this nice! We didn't feel rushed or dismissed anytime we needed something.
Yes, the food was tasty, yes, the drinks were on point, yes, the location is great being a short walk to the beach, but the service sets the bar for EVERYTHING in a restaurant. The food and drinks could have been terrible and the service would make all the difference, although that was not the case. Everything was PERFECT, thanks to our server with that French touch that just made everything that much better! For her alone, we...
Read moreWonderful and tasty! The two staffers worked hard to attend to all the tables. This was the same issue when we had a meal at their Hermosa Beach location. We arrived and were seated immediately, but soon afterwards there were more folks. They need more staffers to accomodate the patrons.
I ordered the Nordique crepe which is smoked salmon in a creamy dill sauce with tomatoes and jack cheese. It was very tasty, but not really photo worthy. The crepe was dry like a hard tortilla, perhaps because the buckwheat crepe was made ahead of time and it dried. Regardless, I loved how my crepe tasted. Maybe if the dill sauce was drizzled on top of the crepe, it would of been more Eye Food Candy Like.
My friend ordered the Fit Crepe which is scrambled egg whites, tomato, mushrooms spinach and asparagus with a basil pesto on top. She loved hers, but didn't care for the actual crepe, which was also hard and crunchy.
We opted for dessert since it was my birthday! I love creme brulee and theirs was perfect! The presentation and all! It was a wonderful way to start my birthday! Thank you!
The restaurant is packed tight, with blankets for those who want one to use while sitting out in their front patio. There are also...
