Having recently moved up this way from Oceanside CA I was on the hunt for a late evening adult beverage. 11:15pm is apparently very late here in Redondo Beach as everything is pretty much closed including the three convenience stores I drove by before rolling up on this late night gem. Upon walking in, this place has a cozy relaxed feeling with a wall of open windows that span the length of the bar to allow the cool evening breeze in. I sat down and was immediately greeted by Lindsay my bartender. I asked for an Old Fashion and she pointed at a chalkboard and asked if I would like to try the Whiskey of the week, a High West Double Rye two ounce pour for $13 (yes please :) this is a pretty good price considering how expensive the Riveria is in general. She mixed me up a delicious Old Fashion and engaged me in conversation. Shortly after a manager by the name of Summer and another bartender Setph joined in the conversation throughout my visit as we all laughed and shared stories. The staff is engaging, funny and great to convo with. It was really nice to be in a new town, walk into a new place and meet such an inviting crew of friendly faces. I left very content and returned a few days later to try the food. The braverian pretzel is absolutely amazing! It's served with a beer cheese dip and I added a side of stone ground mustered, simply put....Amazballz! I also recommend trying the cauliflower and shishito pepper bowl and the Salmon salad rocks as well. The only down side to this place are the people that sit at the bar sometimes drink way to much and act like entitled disrespectful tools to the staff and other patrons. Don't be that douche tool!!!!.......and remember to tip...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were doing a lot of catching up so we made ourselves comfortable at the bar. Drinks were yummy. I liked my whiskey sour better when the male bartender made it because he used bitters like you're supposed to. We ordered the fried devil eggs (good concept but the whites of the eggs seemed over done and a little too dense), Asian wings (yummy sauce and it came with about 10 pieces I think - it was a good portion), and the Carnitas nachos (beware - it costs $18 because it's huge. But I think it could've had more toppings for the price. It just had literally the meat, cheese, guacamole sauce, jalapeños, and a TON of chips. We spent a pretty penny here and the reason why I had to knock off another star if because I literally and physically swatted at flies the whole time I was there. I get it.. It's an open restaurant but I've eaten at establishments like that and never had such a fly problem. It really was annoying and I know the bartenders could see (and hear) the frustration of trying to keep flies off our food but never a word of remorse was said. Even though I enjoyed my whiskey sour and wings, I'll probably not come during daylight because of the fly problem. And I won't order those...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I visited Rebel for the first time last week. We had heard nothing but great things from a bunch of people we know and we had to try this spot out for ourselves.
We received STELLAR service from a gentleman named Christian. He was very friendly, courteous, funny, and attentive to our needs (we're vegan). He made sure our meals were prepared and made vegan as well. He was thorough and asked if there were any other dietary needs that needed to be met (my girlfriend has a gluten allergy) and he made sure she got the GF option on her order.
The meals were on point and delicious btw!
The manager, Amelia, stopped by at our booth, we conversed for a bit. She asked how everything was going and if we were enjoying our evening. She's super pleasant, sweet, and engaging. What a gem!
A big thank you to Christian and Amelia for the great customer service and hospitality, you made sure our first visit to Rebel would not be our last.
