The Green Temple — Restaurant in Redondo Beach

My very favorite vegetarian/vegan restaurant since 2005. The food is amazing. The broccoli tastes like no other.

That being said, I will not return. February 2018: I was in the middle of a very exciting and busy day. I was feeling wonderful and it was a gorgeous day. I quickly ordered garden veggies with tofu sauce and an avocado sandwich. It was close to the time when the restaurant closes to prepare for evening meals. I was right in between my hair being done and spa facial, had just enough time for a quick bite. I took my food to go and decided to sit at the table outside the restaurant to have a quick bite of delicious veggies. I was then approached by the owner and scolded for eating out of the togo box outside in front of the restaurant. I was feeling embarrassed and ashamed. I apologized, quickly gathered my food and left. It actually bothered me so much, I had no appetite and the food was wasted. I really pondered on this for a long while, wanting to understand the situation. I want to apologize for offending the owner, that was not my intention. I feel the tone of the scolding could have been different as to where I would not have felt so awful.

Been coming here for a while now, so I've sampled most of their menu. To someone who has a savory tooth, there are a couple dishes that might not have enough punch, but I enjoy the being able to taste the natural flavor of the veggies. The ingredients are always super fresh and healthy. My favorite dishes are the green tample salad, the blue plate, avocado sandwich, the Yukon gold, and the white lasagna is my favorite so far. Of the sauces I've tried, the tofu sauce is my favorite. As a small person who doesn't require that much food, my only gripe is that the serving sizes are humungous! Many of the dishes come in smaller portions, so if you're like me and can't eat a ton all at once, even the smaller portions are more than enough.

The service is very friendly (especially if they see you carrying a musical instrument). The best part of this place is the calmness of the outdoor patio. It absolutely lives up to its name. I feel calm and happy when I'm there, very much like I'm in a temple ^_^. They also have a wonderful boutique next door called m'pressions, a nice place to visit after if you can spare a minute. They have amazing food but after the way I was treated on the phone it killed the experience. What used to order from here all the time through Covid and even now and the gentleman on the phone was rude and wouldn’t add eggs to my sandwich or even Protein for that matter. He said you can’t add anything to sandwiches you have to get them as they come. Which is so weird because that’s never happened before and I’ve been able to add things and take things out of my sandwiches. I also asked if I could add eggs for protein to the sandwich he told me that they don’t cook eggs in the kitchen but then I let him know that there’s eggs on the menu and he stated that they only cook what they need in the morning and they don’t cook throughout the day. So what does that mean that the foods not being cooked fresh? Anyways I’ve been in the industry for 20 years this is the worst service I’ve ever had at any restaurant would really love to eat the food here but apparently we don’t have options anymore.
