My husband and I just ate here. We just got married last week and we originally came here on one of our very first dates.
We both ordered a soup. I ordered the cream of mushroom special and my husband ordered the onion soup. The cream of mushroom was good, a bit salty but good. The French onion soup didn't have much flavor at all. No one came to refill our water glasses. We had to get up and find someone and even then they took their time getting to our table with the water. I ordered the scallops and my husband ordered the salmon. The scallops had a terrible texture. They were "pan seared" but really they were just raw in the center. My husbands salmon was tough and overcooked. No flavor whatsoever. The server came asked us how our food tasted but both of our mouths were completely full and couldn't answer her and she replied "great" quickly and walked away before we ever even answered her. When we finally got her back over we explained how our meals were not that great and she degradingly talk down to us and said well I wish you would've told me something earlier and those scallops are pan seared. Scallops are my absolute favorite thing to order and I've eaten them all around the world. To speak to me as if I don't know what they taste like or should taste like infuriated me. We asked to speak to the manager and she was obviously very displeased. Meanwhile we hear the host and another waitress talking about a great bill from a walk in and a great tip that was left. Who does that?! That's so unprofessional and inappropriate. The manager came over to speak to us and we explained what we had heard and about the food being a miss and she again said that the scallops were Panseared and you have to ask for them medium well to be cooked through. Again I've ordered scallops all over the world and I have never heard such bologne in my entire life. When we said well that salmon was also overcooked she didn't have anything to say and she said she was going to go talk with her team. She never came back but our waitress came and commented from 6 feet away yelling towards our table "and she took care of your check so you're free to go." How tacky!!! The manager should have come out and said I'm so sorry about your experience. Worst service we have ever encountered in our entire life. Please go spend your money elsewhere where the food is good and they treat their customers like they should be treated. Shame on you Dominiques kitchen. Don't ever treat customers like that. We will...
Read moreSummary: Great food. Braised short rib, mushroom risotto, escargot, penne pasta, and chocolate mousse are excellent. Especially the short rib and mousse. Lots of parking along streets and about 6 spots in the lot. Because I didn't have to pay and couldn't see portion sizes for the prices, I can only estimate the value factor of this restaurant based on pictures, but the food is excellent, the service is solid, and besides the restaurant being a bit small and overly toasty when full, it was a nice atmosphere.
The restaurant is small-medium sized. There is a main indoor section and an outdoor, covered patio section. The inside, where we sat, got warm as the evening progressed as there was very little airflow, and also housed all of the food and drinks for the evening. The restaurant is casually elegant. Nice, but not pretentious.
There were a variety of sliced meats, cheese fondue, escargot, risotto, penne pasta, rolls, braised short ribs, passion fruit crème brulee, and dark chocolate mousse to accompany the various beer and wine drink options (including an excellent red wine sangria). Personal favorite food items were the short ribs, which fell apart with a fork as if slow cooked for days (super tasty and perfectly tender texture), and the chocolate mousse (rich, sweet, super chocolaty, and not overly bitter/dark). Also, really enjoyed the escargot (buttery and salty) and the risotto (cheesy and rich with nice firmness). In general, all of the food was excellently prepared. The staff was also very friendly and attentive, ensuring everyone got served while also taking care of busing the tables. A great all-around package.
It was a pleasure getting to sample some fantastic French cuisine in the comfort of lovely Southern California. This is a solid restaurant with delicious food, and the locals of the South Bay...
Read moreA really quaint and delicious French restaurant in Redondo Beach. I stopped in for my first time this past weekend and was really impressed with my dinner. The food quality was great and the menu had a ton of great options on it. They do have a small parking lot attached otherwise it will be street parking. Our waiter was also very polite and it was very lively during our 7 PM dinner visit. The portion sizes are very large here so factor that in to your choices.
I would classify this more as a French bistro in that it is casual and has a lot of great French comfort food options. We started off with a Country Pâté and thought it was great. It was very smooth and the bread with it really added to the flavor combination. Next, we shared the Beet Salad, which was gigantic, but had some really nice flavors. It was full of beets and feta so I wasn’t complaining, but it could be split between four people it’s that large. Finally for my entree I chose the Pan Seared Sole and thought it was fantastic. The butter sauce on top was extremely sweet but in a good way. I also liked the black rice on the side to soak up the sauce and I ate every bit of it. We wanted to order dessert but by the end of the meal we were both pretty full. I would recommend to anyone in the area or to anyone searching for a great French...
