Redwood Grill — Restaurant in Redwood City

We used to love this place! We love the outdoor patio where we could bring our dog, but our last experience was so disappointing I don’t know if we would return. Our waiter was incredibly sweet, however she was so distracted while taking our order and we ended up getting a couple things wrong (my drink, the cheese on my sons sliders (which we were charged extra for even though he never asked for cheese!). The kids sliders is in fact one slider, not two, and for 2 sliders the kids meal costs the same as an adult meal. We never got the extra ketchup we asked for and we never got more water after the first round. Again, our waiter was so sweet but she ignored us. My husband and I ordered 2 appetizers instead of getting a meal. One of the appetizers, the brisket nachos, looked like it came right out of a can. The brisket was wonderful, but the nacho cheese sauce, black beans and jalapeños looked processed and dumped on. Going out to eat is getting more and more expensive, and we are becoming more selective where we go due to this. For a $100 meal, we expected a little bit more. My goodness was the food here delicious! Located in a very unassuming strip mall, this restaurant was an unexpected delight.

Starting off with the cocktails, we opted for Non menu drinks to see how the bar tender could hold up. I think I have found my new favorite mezcal spicy margarita. I had two And could have easily had four.

The appetizer Brussels sprouts were a must for us to try. The truffle oil was hinted and not over powering. Next time I’ll be sure to get these Again. Maybe this will be a new stop in for sprouts and margaritas (if Ben is working)

Lastly the meal. I ordered the tacos and by very special request got to try the lettuce wrap and taco (not typically ordered). I’m glad I tried both bc the lettuce outshot the tortillas. Fresh and crisp it paired perfectly with the shrimp. And they come with a heaping plate of chips, salsa and beans not mentioned...

Update since they still have a high rating. YMMV but for us we won't be back. From the heady days of beer/wine dinner events and an all around solid menu, to sitting at the bar watching two staff ignore us as we wait over an hour for food, which was at last brought out cold with no apologies or even an acknowledgement service wasn't going as planned.

Original review: Not the restaurant it was. 5% fee on top of raised prices and smaller portions. Ribs used to be a half rack now 4. Glass of wine now 25. Staff were meh.
