Had a notably sorry experience here (3-14-19), which is inexcusable since they price themselves as a exceptional steakhouse would. Details below, but to sum up, you would have better odds of getting a decent meal from a slot machine than from this restaurant.
The bar: Two out of six drinks were simply wrong: a Sidecar made with lime juice and a salt rim and a Gibson made with vodka. Embarrassing. Though the waitress said the bartender was busy it was not a full house, and these mistakes were clearly the result of inexperience or ignorance. Why pay $10-$15 for this kind of expertise?
The food: Texas Roadhouse runs circles around these guys. For $50-$60 per selection for a steak, another $10 for your side, etc. you would expect the food to be stellar, and it was so very mediocre or worse. Their innovative escargot cooked in a balsamic reduction was a joke (I should have known better). I am not sure how it made it out of the kitchen much less got put on the menu. My steak was overcooked per my order and the quality of the cut can easily be exceeded by your local grocer.
The service: Inattentive and uninspired. Our waitress seemed mostly indifferent. She was seldom seen and lacked the initiative, perception, or care to see that our table's experience was going downhill. We had to ask for nearly everything that we might want, which kept us managing our own experience rather than enjoying it, not that there was much to enjoy.
The management: Absent and uninvolved. After having two things removed from our ticket (which we were told required a manager) nobody ever came by our table to inquire about what was going wrong and try to make things right. At least two managers passed our table multiple times but we were seemingly invisible as nearly ever table in our vicinity was attended to by management.
I hope this place gets their act together as the quality that we paid for left me feeling like I had been ripped off. This place is...
Read moreTop notch steakhouse that’s going to take a notch out of your wallet.
Service - 4 Stars - I had a collection of servers, all of which were very friendly and willing to engage is as much conversation as I offered. The service felt just a little slow, despite the floor not being full. It felt a little strange to have 3-4 different servers.
Ambiance - 5 Stars - Flames, 2 story TV’s, clever lighting. Check. Not too bright or too dim? Check. It feels like at least an upscale restaurant. It is not quite what I would expect from a restaurant for a $70+ per person, but it works well as a steakhouse.
Food - 5 Stars - I gots me a NY Strip with a side of mushrooms and a Anchor Steam beer. The meal started with a bread basket and a side of butter with some cracked pepper. The breads were warmish, but tasty. There was a variety so the whole table should be able to find something they will enjoy.
A pallet cleansing sorbet cake just before my steak, with a little booze poured over it. Super tasty.
Ordered the steak medium rare, and that steak came darn near perfectly medium rare. Damn good job chef. The cut itself was an acceptable cut. It had an acceptable amount of fat, it wasn’t too fatty or fatless (aka, tasteless). Flavor? Top notch. I couldn’t place what exactly they did, but it was good. I’d place that steak in the top ten steaks I’ve had in the last decade.
The mushrooms were not the bowl of button fungi that you’d normally get at a lesser house, they were a pleasant medley of textures.
TLDR?
Darn good. Darn expensive.
I couldn’t justify eating here more than once or twice a year at the prices they charge. Is it worth it? Almost. I personally would put the actual value of the food and drinks a little below their menu prices. But I won’t deny that the...
Read moreWe recently visited Bimini's to celebrate my mother's birthday, and while the service and atmosphere were outstanding, the food unfortunately fell short of expectations. From the start, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. Each server was attentive and friendly, making the experience enjoyable on that front. The ambiance was also impressive, with a warm, inviting atmosphere perfect for a celebratory dinner. However, the food itself left a lot to be desired. We ordered two filet mignons, one well done and the other medium-well. Both were disappointingly dry and lacking in flavor. Admittedly, I usually order my steak well done and understand it may come out slightly less tender, but this was beyond my experience--flavorless and overly dry. My mother's medium-well filet suffered the same issues, leaving us both underwhelmed. We also tried the mashed potatoes, which tasted like they may have come from a box, lacking the fresh, creamy texture you'd expect at a restaurant of this caliber. My husband ordered a pasta dish, and unfortunately, it was so underwhelming that he couldn't bring himself to finish it. The beverages, on the other hand, were excellent. We enjoyed a few well-prepared drinks that complemented the enjoyable atmosphere. Yet, leaving with a bill around $400, we couldn't help but feel that the food did not live up to the price point--especially when compared to our first visit in 2016, which had left a much better impression. Overall, while the service and environment were top-notch, the food was a disappointment, especially for a place known for its steaks. It's a shame, as my experience with Biminis in 2016 was great...
