Since the Pandemic of Covid life has unusual challenges to overcome, some may say, however I dont see what common courteous is overcoming and how it became a challenge either. Now most people know I have Lupus, so my outlook in life and its experience during this time has well, not changed. Niether has my adventures. And this adventure is one for the books. For complete fun I adventured into Peppermill Casino for the intent for good excellence in coffee so anything that has the word "Cafè", is going to have coffee at least Farmer Bros "Denny's Coffeee" as I call it. Cafè Milano here I come. And as I appreciate a glamorous experience this was one for the "stage coaches" near by. No doubt I was seated Covid 19 perfect. Distant from folks, plexy glass around all seating areas, all employees wearing face coverings, silverware wrapped tightly into cloth napkin, and all servers wearing gloves. Great look I must say, however by viewing actions, yeah there is NO (if I could underline that word I would) follow thru; let me explain. I ordered from a hard book menu. No hand sanitizer offered in the beginning. Hostest who hands you menu is not wearing gloves; however my server was, but I always saw the same ketchup spot on the same glove every time she arrived at my table, so in my head she never changed the gloves just washed them. I ordered the California Scramble which costs $14.50. I would have just called it a Cali Bowl and serve it in a bowl. The Cali Scramble is just hashbrowns mixed with scrambled eggs tossed in spinach and mushrooms topped with feta cheese. I do have Celiacs Disease so my bread being offered I asked who the sourdough vendor was and they said Franco which is a Local company and the moth dough is old so I can eat it. Tell the truth I never touch my toast as the glove thing made my anxiety a bit ancy so i put it in my doggie bag. Pre-Covid tables had condiments already on tables, post-Cold nope. Salt and pepper came in packets, and ketchup open and exposed and prepared measured. I included my photos. I feel that was weird. I ordered a Mimosa as 8t is a Sunday and bam! It was over priced Orange Cook's. You know what I mean. $12.99 for that. And it was in a flute which you know that's where the annoying pulp goes, so the last bit for me is a waste. My coffee I had came to $3.95. And no it was not Farmer Bros it was something that could have been done before. When I left I'm not lying I gave a 10% tip. My server was attentive yes but my receipt made it to the table before my Mimosa, which made me feel rushed, as if there was a line forming. There wasn't. My food still hot including my plate. So I just got a doggie bag because that's who's going to finish this unfortunate non seasoned meal. Till my next...
Read moreHorrible! I got completely sick from eating their meatloaf and threw up all over a slot machine and other parts of the casino attempting to dart off and find a restroom. Staff witnessed this and did nothing to assist me. Long story short, I contacted the head management of food services via text/email as instructed on their website and no one contacted me back for almost 3 days. When someone finally did, I described the incident in detail, gave the members name whose silver club card was scanned when we ate there (he never would look it up when I asked) and I also suggested he check their surveillance system to prove everything I was saying regarding me vomiting everywhere as soon as I scurried from inside their cafe. He then told me that he never received my text/email and that they refresh their surveillance system every 48hrs, so there's no way to tell if what I was telling him was true and no staff reported to him about a big cleanup job at one of the slots. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone speaking to him because I know I'm not making up ordering a meal, feeling suddenly sick halfway through the meal, rushing from the cafe while profusely sweating and feeling nauseous wildly looking for a bathroom! I couldn't make it and sat down at a slot machine where I threw up all over the front side of it and all of the floor right in front of me. I was so viciously sick by the time I was able to get up from the slot and find a bathroom that I hadn't realized I was in there throwing up/having diarrhea for almost an HOUR! So much so the party I came with had left the cafe because they thought I'd got caught up playing on a slot, got tired and left back to our room we were staying at (my phone had died). AND NO I WASN'T INTOXICATED AND ONLY DRANK WATER FROM THE CAFE AND BEFORE ARRIVING. I was visiting for a short trip and didn't go to the hospital. I just pretty much stayed hydrated, sipped broth and slept it off all day the next day until an hour before my Greyhound was due to leave back to Sacramento. So the food services head told me there's nothing he can do without hospital proof. I never want to patronize this place again! The treatment of myself after reporting all of that to him and he didn't really check my story out despite not having hospital records was disrespectful and extremely insulting......

Last night my wife and I went to the Cafe Milano at the Peppermill Resort on South Virginia Street. We had been there previously. Three times to be exact. Those three times the service was horrible, the food not so stellar, it was primarily the service that had turned us off on it and had us avoiding the place since our last stop there back in February of 2015. Due to renovations our primary choice at the Peppermill was unavailable to us so reluctantly we went to the Cafe Milano. They too were undergoing renovations but they were open. We didn't have to wait long before we were seated, and then we met our server, Humberto. Last time I always ended up having to flag down our server for refills, Not so with Humberto, the time before last our check was dropped off with our meal and we were pretty much ignored by the wait staff. Not So with Humberto. Humberto took our order and came by regularly to check and see how we were doing, and I will let you know he did the same with all of his tables keeping up with them and he had one of busiest sections. Our Salads were delivered precisely on time, and our main meal, I having the New York Steak, with Steamed Vegetables, Baked Potato and Garlic Bread. My wife had the Rib Eye steak with French Fries, Steamed Vegetables and Garlic bread as well. Both meals cooked to exactly how we wanted them, mine Medium Rare and hers Rare. The food was fantastic. Normally I am not a big tipper but Humberto got a very large one from me, and that was when I found out he had been only working there for a week. I want to let the manager know straight up that Humberto and his service made us do a total 180 when it came to our opinion of Cafe Milano. Keep him, and my hats off to the Chef as well for one of the best New York Steaks I have had in...
