My boyfriend and I went to get sushi here for my birthday dinner per his recommendation as he has been here numerous times for years. First off, the sushi was very mediocre and so was the service. Second, as I was putting some sushi in a napkin to take home because I didn’t want to waste it. It was an all you can eat, and for dine reason they charged us an extra dollar per sushi roll we don’t eat and we can’t take the rolls home even though it will be thrown away anyways?! Anyways, my boyfriend went up to the counter to pay, and immediately(hmmm coincidentally…? I think not) the so called manager of this restaurant came over as I was putting some sushi in a napkin(even though it was already paid for/being paid for) into a napkin and she immediately tells me that I can’t be taking any of my leftover food because it is “stealing” from them even though my boyfriend was paying for it and he had food poisoning but was trying to take me out for my birthday?! So before the “manager” leaves she tells me that “we have cameras and you can’t take that extra food”(girl what?) So obviously when my boyfriend gets back from trying to pay, he notices the stunned expression on my face. So I tell him what happened and he comforts the “manager”. She tells him that I was tiring to steal it by putting food in the napkin without paying(girl he was literally trying to pay) and then while I’m sitting back at our table, the “manager” comes over, and reaches over my body and my personal space to count the sushi rolls in a “sassy voice I put back after being accused of stealing. That was so incredibly disgusting and dehumanizing for someone to do that. She then continues to argue with my boyfriend and I saying horrible things to us, and she overcharged each remaining sushi roll by an additional 50c so that ended up being a dollar each for each WAISTED roll. This was the most horrible experience ever especially on my 25th birthday. I wouldn’t want even my worst enemy to have the same experience at this Sushi Rose restaurant which was complete and utter racism. My boyfriend and I are an interracial couple and that was absolutely the main cause of the entire thing and treatment by that restaurant. Not coincidental at all. Don’t come here if you want to be treated poorly if you are a person or with a person of color. Horrible....
Read moreI visited this restaurant with a friend to celebrate her birthday, looking forward to their advertised buy-one-get-one birthday promo. Unfortunately, what should’ve been a joyful occasion quickly turned into a frustrating and upsetting experience.
After the meal, we had some leftover and the staff told us we'd be charged per roll if we didn’t finish. I said okay and agreed to pay whatever was required. Despite that, they still went on to lecture us about wasting food, which felt more like public shaming than customer service. The staff and owner treated us with immediate suspicion, implying we were there just to take advantage of the promotion. That alone was rude and uncalled for — we were there to enjoy a meal and celebrate.
The worst part, they told us not to come back. I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully at a restaurant. Promotions should bring in customers and create goodwill — not result in accusations, lectures, and insults.
This was an embarrassing and deeply disappointing experience. I won’t return, and I would not recommend this place to anyone who values basic respect and decency. This restaurant has lost 20 customers who are my friends, along with their friends and family—and that number continues to grow.
.....It is astonishing how we were accused of wrapping a significant amount of leftovers. The napkin provided by this restaurant is not large enough to hold a significant amount of food. My friend, who is in her 60s, made a simple mistake thinking she could take some leftover as it was also her first time there. I immediately told her it wasn’t allowed, and she started to unwrap it. Before she could even finish, the owner unwrapped it herself, and proceeded to publicly scold and embarrass us. The worst part? She even accused my friend of sneaking food into the bathroom — a completely false and insulting accusation, especially since my friend had clearly shown her empty tissue/napkins on her way to the bathroom. We were still charged for the leftovers and paid without argument. But the humiliation, rudeness, and disrespect we received were completely unnecessary. The owner’s behavior was completely out of line. No paying customer deserves to be...
Read moreI came here for the BOGO birthday AYCE special. It was busy when we got there so I waited with my party for about 40 minutes for two people which was not a big deal to me, but there was a very small waiting area inside. Once we got seated we barely received any service whatsoever. It was to the point where we kept having to flag down our waiter and the most we saw of her was towards the end of our meal when we had to pay the check. The service overall was very slow and they didn't check in with us a single time when we wanted more food.
The sushi itself was just okay it tasted very bland and barely had any flavor. The appetizers were quite mediocre especially the mussels. They came out way overcooked, very chewy and hard. The "hot" items were room temp by the time we got them which indicated they had been sitting out so it wasn't fresh. The soda was also flat and flavorless. The quality and attention to detail when serving food is nonexistent at this restaurant. The only thing I will say was really good was the rose salad. When we finally ordered dessert we asked our waiter if we could get an additional dessert to try on top of what came with the AYCE and she flat out said no even when we offered to pay for it a la carte. We also got charged for an extra soda and our waiter questioned us when we brought it up.
I tried to be mindful since they were busy, but after that encounter I didn't like the vibes and the lack of treatment. There's honestly better sushi options in town with better, more attentive service. I most likely won't be back not even for the free...
