Teriyaki Box — Restaurant in Renton

They are racists. I went to this place a year ago and still remember the traumatic experience with the older asian lady. She was totally disrespectful. When I realized that she did not get my order right after the food arrived, I asked her if they could make the order again and she refused to change it and then mocked me using ape gestures tones and sounds with her hands and mouth as if i was an ape. I thought to myself is this really happening. When I asked for my money back, she refused to give me my money back and told me I would have to pay again for another meal.The older male (owner, I'm sure came out and said they could not return my money also a weird look on his face and a mocking tone also). All of this misunderstanding was due to her language barrier and stubborness. As an educated african american woman i understood exactly where i was at and what was going on. It all caused a scene when i gave them the food back without my money being given back to me and while the kitchen staff and other dine in customers quietly looked on. I endured all of this with a gracious demeanor because i really couldn't believe what was happening to me. I will never ever forget this nor will I put myself in the space of this woman who is probably the owners wife or anyone from their business again to be humiliated and disrespectected by someone who holds onto ignorant stereotypes and inflicts them on other people. I truly thought I was in a time warp. i actually had been here at least once before, enjoyed the food but now am remembering that the same lady was a little rude and distant...

I very rarely give a 1 star review, but my experience here tonight was not great. I frequently visit teriyaki restaurants all over Renton and I always get Spicy Chicken. Tonight's spicy chicken at Teriyaki Box was very dry and they didn't provide extra sauce. There was hardly any flavor, it was as if they stir fried naked chicken and called it good. They put a layer of rice under the spicy chicken to make it look like there's more chicken. The rice under the chicken was actually the best part of the meal because it absorbed all the sauce that should have been on the Chicken. This meal was pretty bad, I hate writing bad reviews but if teriyaki box reaches out to me I will give them another chance. The service was friendly but The food seemed like they weren't even trying. The food even looked bland. This was my go to spot when I wanted some good food before covid-19 they were quick polite good size portions most of all delicious now here it is June 26th and I believe they opened up last Monday I ordered chicken yokisbi noodle for myself and chicken teriyaki and rice for my kids they're not home to eat right now well I just ate mine my chicken does not taste like chicken and the flavor of the whole dish is all off this place definitely just lost a loyal customer and I also seen the lady that has the short hair who usually rings you up at the front counter she went into the back to help dish up food into the styrofoam containers and she was dishing up the salad with her bare hands now I only seen her put one container of salad away with one bare hand and then she must have caught on to what she did and then she got a glove but even that one should not...
