I went here because I remember my friend and barber said it was really good. As you walk in, you see a very big Christmas tree and a Christmas wreath where you can take pictures at. Then you see the hostess area and behind that, a very nice bar area. Once you walk towards the bar you begin to see the entire buffet. This buffet is the biggest buffet I have seen in terms of space. It has a very big flat screen TV in one of the dining rooms. The buffet is broken down into sections.
From the front of the buffet, you see the Raw seafood section. This section consists of oysters, lobster and crab legs, mussels, clams, whole shrimp, and already regular shrimp. You then see the sushi section, which is quite large and has a good selection of sushi. Right around the corner is the sashimi. I think this sushi was delicious, but the issue that I had was when you have sushi with sauces on it, you want to make sure you have separate tongs for each one. At most buffets that have sushi, they have a plate in front of it with tongs on the plate; for each individual plate, so that there is no cross contamination. When I went to get some sushi there were only a few times and a few plates. When I went to grab the certain sushi I wanted, I had to use tongs with a different sushi sauce on it. I don't mind it cuz it still is delicious, but I would prefer to have my sushi the way it was made and not have it mixed with another Sushi's ingredients. But it was still quite good.
You then have your Italian station, which consists of mac and cheese, pasta Alfredo, Pizza etc ect. As a huge mac and cheese fan, I found the macaroni and cheese to be watery and not very cheesy; unless you got the cheese from the top of it. You then have your meat station which has ribs, sausage, and many other meats. This station was good, but I did not see the steaks I wanted.
You been to have your typical Asian American food. Such as Korean beef, steamed vegetables, fried and steamed fish etc. Etc. I recommend the steamed vegetables and Korean beef. It then goes on to have the cooked seafood: Lobster, muscles, crab, oysters, and shrimp; Very delicious! Then you have a dumpling station, a soup station, and a veggie station. You also have A salad station in the very front, where the raw seafood is at. There is then about 8 stations of desserts: the crepe station, ice cream station, cotton candy station, snow cone station, the cake/pastry station, fondue station, fruit station and chocolate carving station. All of the desserts Aris super delicious! I love the fact that in the dining room there is a huge TV with some type of good show or movie on.
For a buffet it is very good, and very worth going to. But I feel they have a lot to work on in terms of how things may be presented. They need to add a tong for every sushi and dish they make. They should make sure there are servers watching every station 100% of the time to make sure the tongs stay where they're supposed to be. If someone for some reason was allergic to an ingredient, that cross contamination could be bad for them. Even deadly. (Granted most people with allergies won't go to a buffet for that very reason.) If you want some place that has a lot of seafood and sushi; this is the place you want to go to! Whether the seafood is raw or cooked, this is a place you can go to to get a crazy amount of food! If I could give it a 3.8 I would. I don't think it's deserving of a 3 star, and I'm not quite at a 4 star. But, IF I HAVE TO CHOOSE, then it would be a 4 star. Does this place need more improvement? Yes. Would I recommend trying this place out,...
Read moreFood for the masses. That's your premise to keep in mind when it comes to buffets. Hard to expect quality, like when ordering a plate made for one type of restaurant.
We have been to buffets where they were close...but fell short.
This place is HUGE! I saw the place featured on a social media vlog and I think there must be a mistake with Feast here in Renton and the one in Kirkland. So to be clear...this is in Renton. The first impression wasn't good at the door...there's a sign that states "You can bring your valuables in and they'll keep it safe". Yup...that isn't a good start. But it is Renton and close to an airport and mall...so it's nice that they'd do that. Kudos to the business to look after their customers like that.
The sushi selection was pretty typical with some decent rolls. The fridge portion of it though doesn't seem like it was doing a great job when the fish was glistening like sweat beading on your forehead in a sauna. That said...I'd say the rice-to-fish ratio is good. I braved some and have no complaints. The rice was nice and not hard like undercooked like grocery store sushi.
The hot and sour soup missed the mark in my book. This is a pretty basic soup that should be easy to make for the masses. Large chunks of sliced mushrooms like they just opened a carton and dumped them in. I don't remember that being a part of it. Bamboo shoots were minimal. The flavor was missing the sour and just tasted blah and some heat.
The ribs were dry, but yet still good. Better when I got them as the person sliced the ribs. The roast beef was good. Nice flavor, tender, and juicy.
They had baked salmon skin available in the same section of the poke, and shrimp. Wasn't feeling the poke from the looks of it.
The mashed potatoes and gravy were good. The gravy had an oily look to it, which had me wondering if they used some roast beef drippings in it. It seemed watery but had some good flavor to it.
They has some mussel dish where there is some kind of filling, which is a typical dish with mussels found at Japanese joints. Very salty. But...I wouldn't condemn them.
The fountain drink machines struggled with ice, but can't complain. It's all you can drink and part of the meal. I like that.
My wife got some ice cream which wasn't soft serve, but that is a plus to me. Them soft serve machines scare me sometimes.
Reason why I gave it a 3 is because the selection is vast, but the quality had me wondering how often they were being checked and maintained for quality and health.
Would we go back? I wouldn't say no...but I'm at the point where I feel as though buffets are not my thing anymore. Unless it's strictly a...
