My wife and I were traveling from Mpls to Arizona and stayed a couple nights at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Rexburg. They recommended Frescos for dinner. We came into the restaurant and had to wait probably 5 minutes to be seated and it was basically an empty restaurant. We asked to sit at a high top table in the bar so I could watch football game that was on and they said they couldn't see anybody anymore in the bar at that time. We found a table and waited quite a while for our server to show up. My wife is going to get the spinach and artichoke dip and was told that they were out, so she changed to a fresco burger with sweet potato fries and was told that they were out of sweet potato fries also. I ordered a turkey bacon club sandwich and it came on a square focaccia bun cold with chunks of turkey instead of slices of turkey which was kind of weird. My fries were cold and greasy tasting so basically the food was very disappointing. There also was an issue with employees including the cook not wearing a mask and when my wife questioned it the response was Covid is not a big deal where we are. the next morning my wife called and talked to a manager but I believe his name was Matt. He told us if we wanted to come back in that following night that he would take care of our dinner for us so we took him up on his offer. we were at Yellowstone pretty late so we ended up ordering the food to go. My wife ordered the Idaho Spud Pizza and I ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo with a side salad. Her pizza was lukewarm at best when I picked it up and the fettuccine alfredo was horrible to put it mildly. The noodles were undercooked there is barely any sauce and the chicken on there was like shredded chicken mixed into the noodles. I took maybe three or four bites of the fettuccine alfredo and ended up throwing it away. My wife had also ordered a cup of the tomato soup and when I came to pick up the order they said that they were out of tomato soup and that I could substitute something else. I ended up getting a dessert which was a brownie and some vanilla ice cream. Out of everything we ordered the Brownie and ice cream was by far the best thing . It actually is the reason why I rated two stars...
Read moreWe have been living in Rexburg since April and have been trying all the different restaurants. Tonight my husband and I tried Fresco for the first time not knowing what to expect. We could not have been more pleased with our experience.
We were quickly seated and the waitress Anastasia was at our table within 3 minutes to greet us an introduce herself. She told us about the specials and her favorite items from the menu. We didn't even have to wait long for our drinks.
When it came time to order my husband knew what he wanted however, I had to many choices and was greatly undecided. I asked the waitress to have the chef surprise me with anything he desired to make.
The food was delicious. 😋 We started our meal with Spinach Artichoke Dip- Husband had the steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a side house salad- I had the chef special which I believe was a butternut squash carbonara with the side house salad- then we had the s'mores skillet and a pumpkin cheese cake. (Of course we have a great amount of left overs.)
You can tell the chef take pride in what he makes. The food was all prepared from fresh ingredients and made from scratch. Everything arrived in a timely manner, was hot, and every so delicious. We will definitely be coming back and will recommend this place.
This restaurant was added to the top 3 of our favorites in town. If you have a chance to come here and have Anastasia as your server you will not be disappointed. She was by far the best server we have encountered on over 5 years now.
You can tell how much she take pride in her job. I wish there was a manager on shift who I could have talked to as I would have loved to praise the chef on duty tonight and our AMAZING server Anastasia! (Management team if you see this you have a golden gem of an employee in Anastasia and she should be recognized some how.)
Picture is of the s'mores skillet we had. Sorry we forgot to take pictures...
Read moreWe love the service here. The waitresses are super nice and willing to take back uncooked food and are just the sweetest.
Today, their food was questionable. There is hardly a time where we are so disappointed in the food that we come home from a restaurant and make our own. Today was that day. I don’t want to bash the people that work there, just a critique on the food. It’s a hit and miss coming here and today was definitely a miss.
We love coming for their unlimited fluffy buttermilk pancakes with their homemade buttermilk syrup on the weekends. Super fluffy and worth the money. It’s even better when you get their early and you are the only ones there (it does take a while for the pancakes to get out but if you come early it’s super fast). We haven’t been in a while because of COVID but when we went this morning, we noticed that they raised the price from $2.99 to $4.99. We get it, times are hard and maybe the demand for the pancakes are high so you raise the price. But if your pancakes come out like they did this morning, maybe you shouldn’t be raising the price. As cooks, we can tell when there is no baking soda/powder in the batter because these cakes were flat, burnt and raw in the middle. It wasn’t just the first batch we got, when we asked for a new set, they came out the same or worse. We felt bad for the rest of the customers when we were leaving cause their looked worse than ours.
I will say, it was super kind of them to give us a manager’s discount when their sausages came out raw and they gave us some new ones. Which is why I’m giving them a 3 star...
