I regret to inform any prospective patrons of the McDonald's on 175 Valley River Dr in Rexburg, ID, that this location is an absolute failure in delivering the standard McDonald's experience we've come to expect. It pains me to write such a scathing review, but I believe customers have the right to be forewarned.
Firstly, the service is dreadfully slow. It seems that the sense of urgency to serve customers efficiently is entirely lost on the staff here. Regardless of the time or day I have visited, the wait times are consistently long with a palpable sense of disorganization. Visiting a fast-food establishment should be fast, yet this McDonald’s seems to have redefined the term to the slowest possible service.
Equally distressing is the state of cleanliness. Tables smeared with remnants of past meals greet you, and the floors are littered with straw wrappers and spilled condiments. Finding a clean spot to enjoy your already-disappointing meal is a challenge in itself. It's as if the concept of a cleaning schedule is an alien idea at this establishment.
Now, onto the food itself – it's lackluster at best and appalling at worst. McDonald's usually boasts a consistent taste and quality regardless of the location, but this particular outlet must have missed the memo. Burgers are haphazardly assembled with the finesse of a toddler, the fries are a gamble between being undercooked or bizarrely stale, and the drinks taste like they're the product of a poorly calibrated soda fountain.
The juxtaposition between this location and the McD's on University Boulevard couldn't be more stark. The latter is a mere four minutes' extra drive, but it makes all the difference. Cleanliness, service, and the quality of food at the University Boulevard restaurant exemplify what we know and love about McDonald's. The staff is friendly and prompt; the environment is clean and welcoming; the food is fresh, hot, and tasty – it’s everything the Valley River Dr location is not.
In conclusion, if you're craving McDonald's and you find yourself in Rexburg, do yourself a favor and drive the extra few minutes to the McDonald’s on University Boulevard. It’s a decision your taste buds and your watch will thank you for. The contrast between the two could not be more prominent, and it's clear where you'll get the quality experience that’s worth your time and money. The McDonald's on 175 Valley River Dr desperately needs to step up its game to meet the expectations that its counterpart has set. Until then, it's best avoided if you don't want to leave hungry...
Read moreI stopped by to grab food today around 12:30. I ordered the 4C and asked them to add pickles and cheese. All the way out of the parking lot and halfway down the street I discovered that, once again, they had forgotten my cheese. And oh goodie, here we go! It's happened so many times at this McDonald's that I already knew what they'd do: Hand me a cold slice of cheese on a plastic tray out the window--which is indeed the option they chose. But I know from long experience that I really dislike stone cold cheese on a chicken sandwich where, had it been put on at the time the sandwich was made, it would be warm and melted. Fed up with the cold cheese trick I asked the two girls this time if they would just warm the cheese up a tiny bit before they handed it to me, and it all went downhill from there. They told me they'd need me to pull forward to not inconvenience the people behind me. Seriously? I was pretty inconvenienced having to turn all the way back around and return there while my food grew cold. I asked them how long it would be, and one of the snotty girls told me she "pinkie promised" I'd get my cheese. I asked again how long it took to warm up cheese, and she said a few seconds, and then I wanted to know why they were arguing with me instead of just warming up the cheese, because it'd already been way longer than a few seconds. FYI to the two girls who were so snotty to me. First of all, I got sick weeks ago and totally lost my voice, and I still haven't gotten it back again. In order to make it so my voice doesn't rasp, and I can actually be understood, I have to put more volume in it. But thank you for assuming the worst of me despite all the years I have extended understanding and patience to all the people at that restaurant for their unintended human mistakes. Contrary to what you OBVIOUSLY believed, I was not yelling at you. I just can't talk well right now. Second of all, I moved home 7 years ago, and have indeed extended understanding and grace to all of you each time you've made a mistake. I try to be patient and kind and remind myself constantly that I make mistakes every day, so be patient with others who also make mistakes. It's taken me all 7 years to finally be angry enough to come here and write a nasty review, so congratulations on that. And third of all, if someone has to turn around and come all the way back to the restaurant for a mistake YOU made, apologize, offer them a small promo card for the inconvenience, and don't...
Read moreThis has been something I’ve been putting off doing as I don’t wish to cause issues. However the service tonight was horrible. This is a McDonald’s my Mrs and I frequent when it’s late and we eat there quite often due to the commute we both have to make for work. This McDonald’s consistently misses items in orders, gives the wrong items in orders and makes the entire process a hassle. These issues hardly ever happen with the exception of when one person is working on that particular shift. Things seem to go smoothly when this person isn’t working the 2nd window where you get your food. Woman I’m describing has several face piercings, blue/black hair that is cut just above the shoulders, and a somewhat boyish voice. I believe is in a management position. McDonald’s has a limit of 2 ranch cups per order which I’ve always been okay with. That being said tonight was the 7th time I’ve had to either come inside or firmly insist this person take my money for sauces. Tonight my money was refused at both windows in the drive through to pay for ranch unless I drove around again to reorder for said 3 ranch cups. Money has been accepted right there at the drive through window upon request after receiving my food numerous times before. Being asked to come inside or drive around to reorder to pay 50¢ for three ranch cups after spending $30-$40 on food in the drive through completely defeats the purpose of the drive through as a whole. The only time this is an issue is when that person mentioned and described is working. It is consistently more of a hassle to go to this McDonald’s which is less than mile from my house, than to drive to the other location 10 minutes away. It took longer tonight to purchase 5 ranch cups and two fries, than to jump onto the freeway and drive to the Burger King 15 minutes away. Save yourself the hassle and either meticulously look through the bag without moving from the drive through window to make sure your order is correct, or go somewhere else. Very disappointing this is such a persistent hassle. Better yet, if you don’t want to be hassled about sauces, $7.50 gets you 50...
